13/14 and a surprise

Got the 614's installed today with a date code of 13/14. I touched them to see if they were still warm!

Here is something interesting and confusing. With my 3100 I got just over 11mpg and with the 3610 was getting 9.4mpg. So today in a 50 mile trip to the tire store, going I got 9.4 and on the way back it was 11.3. Other than direction the only difference was the new tires. Tires were aired to max 80 & 110.

I'm not sure this makes sense, any thoughts?

We do feel the rig pulls better with the G614's, but I've not seen any major milage difference. With the weight of our rigs it it's minorly up hill one way it will produce that type of difference on the round trip.

When we got our G614's this past December, we noticed a vast improvement with the handling, which I suspect is the 110 psi in the tires, plus the tire is much stiffer. I haven't actually checked MPG yet when towing, but all things being equal, there has to be less rolling resistance with these compared to the E range tires at 80 psi, so mileage should be improved some. I don't really care, just happy to not have to be watching for exploding tires in the rear view mirrors.

I posted some similar information I got from my buddy about 3 weeks ago when he started on his trip from Florida out west. He had new G614's installed on his SOB triple axle Toy Hauler and started averaging a full 1 MPG better the first three days on the road. Since his last trip he added more weight also, including W/D, Travler Dish, and a couple other things. He suspected that if he was running the same weight he may have jumped closer to 2 MPG due to the G614's.
