Fire recall

I was wondering if anyone here actually had a fire that resulted from the 2021 HC safety recall issue?

We had a fire June 16, 2021 and dealer swears it was a power surge. A few days later we got the safety recall and he still swore that was not what started the fire.

After over 3 months in the shop he didn't even fix the recall. The more I read about the recall the more I think that was the cause. We were having 120v issues off and on for about 6 weeks before fire.

Thank you!

And what was the quality workmanship that prompted this recall?

At the time of this incident, we you using an EMS or at best, some kind of Surge Protector, either portable or fixed inside your camper? If so, you have good argument the dealer is wrong.

Yes we had a surge protector on, everything power wise inside was fine. I even had a laptop plugged in that was fine
I don't want to get into specifics of issue with dealer. Here are the details of recall.
Keystone RV Keystone RV Company is recalling 3,292 model year 2021 High Country Montana trailers. The 120VAC wiring connectors for the slide room circuit were not mounted properly, which can allow water to enter the electrical connections. Wet electrical connections can increase the risk of a fire.Jun 10, 2021

We are in a very wet climate. For about 6 weeks prior to the fire every time it would rain our residential fridge would quit working. Due to dealer appointment issues (3-4 month wait) we had a mobile tech come look. He thought it was converter but we did not have him change it because dealer told us it would void our warranty. We placed a battery charger on our unit and fridge came back on a few days later (we also had no lights that generally run off battery).

Mine caught fire October 2021

I am a little late to this thread. My unit caught fire in October. The 1st thing that happened was the fridge stopped working on electric - same problem as you. Had the heating elements and power module replaced. Worked for about 3 weeks. Right around the time the fridge stopped working again, the outlet in the kitchen slide blew and we could not get it to work again. Then later that day we started smelling something burning, like plastic melting. I never received a recall notice, because my unit was never registered with Keystone - different story. But I had no problem having the repair done under the recall.

The quick splices under the coro plast .. if not properly mounted can contribute to an electrical fire occurring

Also the self contained OEM factory 120 volt wall outlets are junk and should be replaced using “Old Work shallow box” with a residential style 120 wall outlet using the screw on terminals to connect the wires

The bathroom GFCI is always overloaded as well on its LOAD OUT side because the kitchen wall outlets are wired to this GFCI which is also the self contained style outlet..

Images of quick splices under Coro plast and often behind cabinets, etc

The dealers are not always fully informed
