Ceiling vents

We recently purchased a 3791RD. I see these vents in the ceiling (see attached photo) but I can't figure out what they are for. The heat comes out of floor registers and the A/C only comes out at the one unit above the fireplace. Anyone know what these are for?

They should all be A/C ducts.

We have a 3790RD, those are your ac and heat pump vents in the living room and kitchen, ac only in the bedroom. Heat out of the floor is the furnace.

If you aren't getting AC out of those vents you have a serious problem. Your air flow is restricted, most likely on the return air side and lack of air flow will result in the unit freezing up in addition to you not getting cool. It could also be an issue with the return air and supply air ducts not being aligned right under the AC unit. Since the rig is new, I'd take it back to the dealer and make them fix it. The exception to this is if your unit is older and has the older style AC unit. In that case, the vent on the bottom of the AC unit can be closed and air then goes down the ducts to those registers.

Close the ‘dump’ register on the A/C. That will run the air into the ductwork.

That's a new one to me but what is the dump register and where is it?

No dump register on the new 15K units. If no AC coming out the vents it is going into the attic from the main unit. The bedroom unit will have the dump gate.

John,

My rig does not have a dump gate in the bedroom either. Most all the newer rigs have two 15K units.

In the older Montanas the units the AC stuck down into the rig. One side of the vent that stuck down was the return air, the other half was a dump register that you could open and most of the cold air would come out right there. You could adjust the dump, however, and send some or all of the air down the ducts to the round supply vents in the ceiling depending on what you wanted or needed.

If you're not getting air from those AC diffusers, they're probably blocked, and shame on Keystone, again, for allowing units out the door with crushed ducting. You must not be in a hot location. Here in FL, we need every bit of the air flow.

I am going to have to take a real close look while on the factory tour at the fall rally to see how they manage to crush the A/C ducting.

I thought that I had read somewhere,Keystone has started using a "new and improved" ductwork, to prevent the crushing and collapsing issues. Was supposed to start with the 2018 model year was what I think it said.

New and improved does not mean they have fixed it yet. We are going to the Rally in Goshen. This is on my "list".

When we bring up the AC issues let's also bring up why Keystone is still putting Tetford toilets in when so many of us have to change to Dometic right away.

Simple answer ~~ Thetford are cheaper. They work for a while, until they don't.

I am in on that. Many of us use these things a lot harder than the average user. Remember the R in RV stands for "recreational" living it in full time or most of the year and doing thousands of miles every year is not IMO recreational.

Many will never have a Thetford problem as they do not use them that much.

They build them for the average user and I am not the average user.

Probably a large percentage of Montana and HC owners are like you. We are using ours 6 - 7 months annually. This means several trips of 600 to several thousand miles and from 2 weeks to 3 months. Yet, 50 cents on every Montana and HC saved may be someone in purchasing getting a huge bonus.

The RV industry is very competitive and penny's' add up to thousands of dollars

I had posted that a 200.00 difference in price could mean the difference between buy or no buy to the consumer and many did not believe that. We sold them at large RV shows and it does make a difference. The average RV buyer knows surprisingly little about Rv's except what are the monthly payments.

People would look at a Montana and ask how come this cost more than that Cougar next line over. They both look the same.
