Insurance for Golf cart.

Does anybody on here have a seasonal spot with a golf cart and if so does the campground were your seasonal spot is require proof of insurance and charge you money, this campground does for us it's $100 a year fee to use our cart (REALLY). Contacted my Erie Ins here in Maryland and got a quote of $145 a year and people on the campground Website said from $45 to $75 was the most i seen from them they are paying from there Ins.company. I have five car's, my house, and my 2016 Montana fifth wheel with Erie. Paid $4450 for golf cart and it's a 2013 Club Car Reconditioned super clean new custom Ford truck body and have a $250 deductible on it like our personal cars. Am i getting Hosed from my Ins,company. Thanks Chuck.

Chuck,

Probably not. What the campground most likely requires is liability insurance. You are talking about physical damage coverage. The park doesn’t care about that. Ask your company to quote liability only. The cost is also dependent on what limits you choose. Make sure they are sufficient to conform to the parks requirements and for your personal needs.

brenkco, not really sure on the quote of $145 was for from my Ins.company Liability or full coverage. Im sure campground just needs liability. But i'm wondering is why they charge $100 a year for my golf cart at the campground is really for. It was $50 last year i'm told it doubled and lot of people i talked to are pissed about it.

Chuck,

You said you were quoted at $250 deductible. That is for comp & collision aka full coverage. Liability normally has no deductible.

Can’t help you as to why the campground charges you. Lots of golf courses also charge for private owned carts.

We have had golf carts we have left in Florida each summer for 12 years. Just bought a 2015 club car this winter, did not worry about insurance for it. Put it up on blocks on our site, cover it and chain it down when we leave Florida. In 12 years never a problem even with last years storm which hit our park pretty hard. No charge at our park for having it. Liability for the cart is covered by an umbrella personal liability policy that goes on top of our auto and home insurance and ramps up our liability coverage to $5M wherever we go, including auto, home, boat, RV, etc. I pay $150 a year for that additional coverage.
