Frame flex sidewall crack

We have a 2021 3121RL and have developed a small crack protruding out from the lower left corner of the bedroom slide most likely due to the dreaded frame flex issue. We are located in western PA just north of Pittsburgh. I know all about Affinity RV and can take the rig to them. Keystone, though, has provided the name of Colton RV near Buffalo, NY as a place that does this sort of repair work. They are 3 hours away verses 6 hours to Affinity. Was wondering if anyone is familiar with Colton RV and had the frame flex repair work done by them? If so, would you recommend them? TIA!

First of all welcome to the MOC and sorry to hear about your problem. I can't answer your question but I'm sure someone here can. Good luck with the fix.

Can I ask what you're pulling with and what kind of hitch you're using?

Pull with a 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 turbo diesel Denali Ultimate. Standard bed prepped with puck mounts. Using B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch. Very pleased with truck and hitch.

I have the same TV as you and my trailer is similar except an HC. I guess you've put some miles on it. Rough roads?

Not really. Owed it only 1 1/2 years and only put 5K miles on it so far.

We live 2 miles from Colton in Orchard Park NY. They are the go to RV dealer in our area based on customer satisfaction. We almost bought a Solitude from them but liked the Montana a little better so ended buying elsewhere. They have a large stand alone repair facility A few miles away in Blasdell NY. They have been around for many years and I would not hesitate to go there for repairs if Keystone recommended them. Colton does sell Montana, but not at either of their two Buffalo Area locations. Good luck and let us know how you make out with them if you use them. I certainly would like to know for our future reference.

Welcome to the forum!!

Take it to the shop Keystone recommends to make the structural stress crack permanent repair then you will be sure it is done correctly. Besides they are closer.

I was fortunate that my dealer (250 mi) from my home could do the repair, as we we able to drop off pm our way back home from a camping trip close to the dealer vs. towing it to them from home. They made the repair on the side with the crack and Keystone had them make same repair on opposite side as a preventative measure ALL under warranty. No issues since the repair.

Keith, you may want to talk with Ansley RV in Altoona PA. I've had good service on my 15 there.

Just like we have said if you can find people that have used them also check with the factory on their repairs. 3 hours is better but it’s a sure thing at affinity.

Had same issue, had mine fixed at my dealer here in Ohio. they did a good job and were thorough. I would make sure they check all welds on the entire front of rig. keystone requested photos before doing fix. here are a few pics.

Good Lord if the weld repairs went as well as the fiberglass work, then your Ohio dealer really did an awesome job!

Thanks I thought they did a great job. When I talked with the guy who did repairs he said he has done quite a few, same issue cracking in that lower corner of the slide. It was not just Montana with this issue. They did not have to do any welding thankfully. They wanted to make sure none of the welds had cracks or broke. So far so good.

Do you know if it’s possible to access that area from inside the bedroom?
