Looking for good Campground in Benson, AZ area.
We are planning a trip to the Benson,AZ area in March of 2008 and would like some information on good campgrounds in the area. MY wife spent a couple of years there during her high school years and has always wanted to show me the area. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Carle

The prettiest, by far, is the state park at Karchner Caverns, about 6 miles south of Benson. It doesn't have sewer hookups, but it's worth it. As I recall, there is one named Butterfield (sp?) that is right in town if you need that.

We usually stay at the Escapee Park in Benson but there are many in the area and just south toward Tombstone, Huachuca City, St. Johns etc. I agree with the State Park but if you are there for any length of time it gets costly while most of the other parks have very reasonable monthly rates.

Check out Chochise Village in Benson. See their website. We visited friends there several years in a row and they loved it. We have stayed a night or two and was very impressed.

There are about 8 campgrounds in the Benson are. Cochise is a couple miles west of town, butterfield is right in town behind the Safeway grocery and 2 blocks from Wally world.

We're also interested in this. Current thinking is to be in that area from mid-December, 2007, to mid-January.
Carle, I'd be very interested in anything your wife thinks is something we should see in the area. You could post here or click the email icon above this post and email me, if you don't mind doing this.
Thanks.
