Sorry that I can't help to answer your question but I have a question to ask of you on how do you like the boat. Been thinking to get one. Are they as good as they say?
Thanks Jon

1st of all jackw87 Welcome to the MOC Family
There is an MOC member named Dave Anderson that has a Porta bote and the mount is on the left side of his Montana. Not sure how he has the brackets mounted. He would be very anxious to assist you but his visits to the forum are very infrequent. You may want to send him a Private Message or Email. You can do either thru his profile at http://montanaadministrator.forumco....isplay&id=1654.
Wandering Star,
Weighing in at over 300 pounds I was very interested to know if it would carry my weight. Dave felt it would not be a problem. He said he loved his and uses it quite often.

We saw one mounted on a fiver (not a Montana) below the windows on the curbside. Looked like it was easy to tote.

I have a 12' Porta Bote that I plan on mounting underneath our 2850RK. Carried it on the side of our Cougar using the brackets I purchased from Porta-Bote. Cougar didn't have enough clearance to mount below the frame but the Montana does. My plan is to build an enclosure about 13' long and 6" deep that I can slide the bote into. Have seen one a gentleman built on his 5th wheel in Tacoma and it looked pretty slick. Probably won't get to it till spring but will keep you posted on the results.
By the way, where do you carry the seats, oars, etc.? I finally got a low profile Delta box for the bed of the truck but now I can't see the pin when I hook up.

Thanks Jack for the come back. Had a chance to pick one up at the Cape last year that was only used a few times for 700.00 and sure kick myself for not getting it. Good luck on the mount and I'm sure you will get enough help from the menbers of this club. Jon

I've had a 12' Porta-bote for several years, and I think it is just great. It's much more seaworthy than all the 12' aluminum boats I've been in. The flexible hull dampens any wave actions, and the hull material is just about indestructable (sp?)! When we had our travel trailer I carried it either in the trailer or on top of my truck canopy. Now that I have the Montana 3255, I too am thinking about mounting it underneath the fifth wheel. Their certainly is plenty of room there, and it keeps what little the boat weighs down low. The box idea mentioned sounds good, shouldn't cost too much, and should make it easy to store and remove the boat.

Mat I had it mounted on the livingroom slide on the 3255Rl but it is a little heavy for the slide just thougth you would want to know I think underneath is going to be the place to store it but will need a container pt put it in

Had one mounted on our ´94 Kit Road Ranger using the Port-a-Bote brackets. Got a diagram of the slideout so I would know where the framing was to anchor the brackets into something solid. Carried it there for seven years before I decided that I wasn´t really using it.
With these widebody rigs, think undernearth would be the best option.

We're coming in a little late here, but we have had a 12' Porta Bote for several years. Ours is mounted on the "big" slide with the mountings from Porta Bote, backed with stainless steel backing plates. We carry a 5 h.p. outboard in the front compartment and the seats, etc. in the main storage locker. We have used ours extensively everywhere from the San Francisco Bay to the waters around the Florida Keys and lots of places in between. The boat is great, very stable and lots of fun.

We'd love to see pictures of this when you get a chance. We had one mounted on our '95 Kit Companion for years, but that fifth wheel only had one slideout. We sure did have some fun in it. One year we had 4 kids and 2 dogs out in it when a sudden hail storm came up. Those poor kids (and dogs) finally made it to shore across from our campsite and holed up in a couple of outhouses till it passed.
We stored the seats, motor, etc. in the bed of the truck.
