I have a Montana 3810 and pull it with a 2009 Ram MegaCab which has only a 6'5" box. I have no slider and can turn to near 90 degrees

Used a PR auto slider for my F150 5-1/2' bed. That PR was designed for an F150 and had 22" of travel. Now have a 6-1/2' bed and a Demco Hitchiker auto slider that only travels about 16". My Montana has corner cutouts but still gets very close to the back window, although I can get to 90 degrees on level ground.

I have a shortbed Ford F350 and also use an Anderson Ultimate. Montana's front end are designed to be able to turn tighter radius even with a shortbed tv.

I have a F250 short bed and have hauled 3 different 5ers with no problems. Most of the time I don’t even use the slide.

While that is mostly true and my 3711FL has those corner cutouts, I touched the front corner of the FW to the cab maneuvering at a gas station. No damage other than rubbed paint, but now I can get to 90 degrees with the slider if need be.

If we lived in a perfect world and all roads and driveways were perfectly level with each other it would be true that you wouldn't need a slider. BUT, we don't and when the TV twist one way and the RV twist the other and you're approaching 90 degrees listen for the POP of that rear window.
Go check any number of other forums and read of those who got by for years until Murphy finally caught up to them and they are now replacing a rear window.

We have a 2017 F350 SRW Short Bed towing a 2013 Montana 3725 and have a Demco Hijacker Autoslider Hitch and it works great. Just returning from a loop from TN up to Calgary(Stampede) and have cut all kinds of short turns pulling and backing on uneven ground and have had no issues with the Demo Hijacker Autoslider. We use a slider as a way to have one less thing to worry about.

I pulled a 40ft Montana 5'er for 5 years with a Ram 3500 SRW with a 6.5ft bed and an Andersen Ultimate hitch. Never a single problem and now I have a new 5'er to replace the Montana. If you've never looked at the Andersen, you really should.

Would never tow without a slider with a short bed. I have a 2016 1 ton Chev with 6’ bed and use the Demco 18k auto slider, Love it!
Never have to worry even in full jack knife it never comes close to cab and I don’t hav to get out and pull pins it does it all.
It is a bit tougher to load with the capture plate being on the hitch so you have be be lined up well. Hope this helps you.
While the Pull Rite is nice I like the Demco better.

Auto slider

We had some tight turns on roads not really designed for large rigs due to bypassing flooded areas this weekend and I was really glad an automatic slider was in the bed. Demco 18k works good with a tip to say when the instructions state the capture plate should be within 1/8" on either side of the trailer's hitch - follow the directions.

Everyone situation is different. Just to get to the first main road from my house I have to maneuver around 5 sharp 90 degree turns. A short bed with a slider would just be a pita for me.

Also when I return home I have to get the rig turned around at the house which requires more sharp turns.

Unless your pinbox is set really high, the aft end of you pinbox will hit the front side of your tailgate. Now, you're in a real predicament because your hitch is LOCKED in the rear position and it's jammed into your tailgate so bad you can't get your tailgate to unlock. Plus it will damage your tailgate. The other issue is the loud clunking sound when starting and stopping. A slider has to be able to slide, so the mechanism has to have a good bit of slop in it to work. All this slop makes a lot of banging back and forth when starting and stopping. This can't be good for the hitch or the RV.
Pulled over 73k with two manual sliders. First a Reese & then a Curt. Have never experienced either of these issues. Only bad thing about manual sliders is you have to remember to use them. Always use it in camp grounds and getting the 5'er in my driveway. Only two other times was it required. Both times in filling stations.

A slider is a lot less expensive than a garage remodel or a new house. Agree that a long bed is a better tow vehicle but some can't afford a dedicated tow vehicle.
I agree Both of our F-350's have been long beds and a dedicated tow vehicle. The F-350 crew cab, long bed is a pain to drive. When on a road trip when we stay at a CG we do have to drive it for our sightseeing and it is no fun. We are always looking for a Dually parking spot. There is about 20 things we can not do with a long bed dually but we purchased it to tow a heavy 5th wheel.
