I got mine on Amazon also. Best price I found anywhere. Had to rotate the plug on my unit too.

My cord was starting to separate on the first outing. The 90 degree adapter (yes, I had to adjust the RV receptacle) is a winner. You can see it in my Profile picture.
For what ever reason, this adapter would not fit my 2015 3440RL shore power plug, pretty disappointing.

You do have to rotate the receptacle before the plug will go in vertically. The receptacle ground contact is in the wrong position otherwise. You should be able to plug is without the rotation but the cord will be sticking out horizontally rather than vertical.

While rare, it could e a manufacturer's defect. Have you tried plugging into someone else's 50 amp receptacle?
