Sewer hose storage door

We have the sewer hose storage on the driver's side in the rear of our Montana. The door came lose or broke off in transit returning home last week. I know some of you have added a storage door on the passenger side in the rear. Where did you purchase the storage door? The one we had did not lock with a key, just a knob that turns and locks. We would like one that locks with a key since it has come lose before. Thanks for any info.

krtam, mine broke loose also and I found one in a local mom & pop RV store, can't remember where, but they are readily available but I did not get one with a lock. Good luck. Now I remember, it was in Phoenix, AZ

As Phil indicated, they are a standard RV item and not a Montana exlusive, so finding one shouldn't be difficult.

And, you can merely remove the plastic lock and install a metal cam lock...

I lost my door on the trip to Goshen. I had the new enclosure installed with the hinge on the top so the door would not hang down. Yes I have to hold it up but do not feel I would loose it again.

I added another one on the other side of our Montana. Then we broke the original one somehow while on the road. The door is available from your Montana dealer although he'll probably have to order it. You have to get the frame and door but it's not difficult to swap it out.

If your dealer has any questions about it, it's the same door used on older Montanas for the outdoor shower, prior to the inside water connection center. In fact, on the inside of that door it says something about water.

This last one cost me $45.77 including shipping.

I also put the hinge at the top on both sides. I would think you could lose the hose whether the hinge is at the top or bottom. That's why I wedge the hose in place so it won't just fall out on its own. I have male and female connectors on all my hoses so I can quickly connect and extend and those work well to wedge into that locker.

I don't know how many realize but that locker has screws protruding into it and those sharp points can put holes in your hoses. I went to Ace or Lowe's or somewhere and bought some very inexpensive vinyl screw covers to put over the points. One holed hose is enough!

Oh, on the hinge at the top, I need to figure out how to lock the door in the up position while loading and unloading the locker. It's a royal pain trying to hold that door open. But at least if it comes loose it is not as likely to get ripped off by the wind. Velcro to hold the door open hasn't worked real well so far. Not enough mating surface.

DH changed out our basement locks with barrel type locks. He used one of the old locks on the sewer door. We now have that locked and it won't open on the road.
