Decal Adhesive

I have the replacement graphics for the curb side. After several attempts at removing the adhesive, I am about to surrender. I tried a heat gun (too hot), degreaser, WD- 40, bug/tar remover with little result. Surely there is something to make this job easier. If I ever get the stuff off, I will probably not replace.

In my case getting the decals was simple compared to removing the adhesive.

Are you asking about removing the decals themselves or removing the left behind adhesive? If it is the latter ... 3M Adhesive Remover has always worked well for me with little worry of doing more than removing just the adhesive. The part number on the can is 03618 and can be had at Wally World, OReillies Auto, AutoZone, and probably others. Keep turning the rag or you'll just smear the adhesive back on that you just took off.

To remove the graphics, I used a hair dryer. The decals do get hot, so a pair of gloves would definitely benefit you. The adhesive comes right off with goo-gone and a cotton towel. Be careful applying it and do not let it run onto adjacent graphics (it is petroleum based which is a no-no according to Bulington Graphics.

If you go to a sign shop they might order you some adhesive remover. It is made to take the glue on the vinyl.

I found Exteme Goo Gone either at Home Depot or Lowes. Worked well for me. Bought two bottles thinking I would go through the first one pretty quick. Only used half a bottle to take off the front graphics on a 07 3075. Burlington has sent me the replacement decals but I am going to wait until I sell or trade to put them on. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I called the factory (Burlington) and they advised Naptha or Lacquer thinner. I went with the Lacquer thinner, worked like a champ, then went back over the area with alcohol, worked great. I did that after wearing myself out using goo gone which really didn't work well for me. I had to scrub and scrub with goo gone, with the thinner it was a one pass wipe.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Try Extreme Goo Gone. Purchased at either Lowe's or Home Depot. Took my front decal off a 07 3075 pretty easily. I bought 2 bottles but only used half of the first bottle. Not going to replace the graphic til I trade or sell.

Cheap paint thinner from Home Depot always works.
We used it when I was in the Auto Dealership for years.

To remove decals, I use a hair drier and straight edged razor...very carefully. GooGone will take off what little glue is left.

I use Goo Gone for most any adhesive removal and it works very well. Haven't tried it on decal adhesive, though.
