Need advice

I currently own a 2016 chevy 2500hd crew duramax that has a give of 10k. I pull a high country 352rl. I weighed everything today and the rig loaded weighs 11500. Truck with people fuel and hitch 8500. I figure I'm over my gvr at about 10600. So 600 over. I have a dealer who will trade me a 2016 Ford F-350 sew same miles similar options. I would definitely be legal with it. Straight trade. Won't cost me anything..
Looking for advice on what to do? Is this unsafe for me and my family to pull with my current truck? I'm kinda leaning towards 350 because I'd be legal.

Thanks for the help

Same question you asked yesterday and already got a lot of responses. Is there a reason for repeating?

Its your family, I've seen to many 3/4 and 1 tons with their nose in the air. Sure you can pull it, but what happens when you need all your brakes and swerve off the shoulder to avoid an emergency? With my SOB I was right at the GCWR of 23,500#. If I put water in my tank i was over. I moved up to the 1-1/2 ton. I'm good for 25,000#. I sleep and drive much easier. The combined gross is what you need to pay attention to. You will always be better off with MORE truck. IMHO

Outside of being leery about a dealer offering an even swap, I'd say if the numbers concern you that much, go for it. But you gotta change your username.

I had to work on them a little. I'm thinking my 3/4 ton will sell easier. This new truck has only 20k so still under warranty. Also Ian under gross combined rate and what my truck can pull. Its payload I'm over.

In the area I live an F250 is easier to sell on the dealer lot than an F350. It was that very reason my 2016 250 did so well on a 2016 350 in December. My problem was same as yours, new 5er blew through the payload of the 250.

I agree, got a killer trade deal on my 2017 3/4 to 1 ton trade... it was actually beyond belief. 1 ton MSRP'ed for $2000 more than my 3/4, my 3/4 had 14,000 miles and almost a year old, traded for $6750 difference.

Typically you can knock $10K a year off for first 2 years on these trucks. So I got year newer warranty, higher value truck and what I wanted for not near what I was figuring it was going to take, I was thinking $10-12K.
