Very happy with our memory foam topper from Costco, I believe. You’ll wonder how they ever got that thing in the box, but after a couple of days it looks and feels like it should. No complaints.

Do some measuring to determine if you have standard size or RV size mattress and then go shopping.
Ours was standard size (king). Wife wanted queen size so we cut the platform down. Then bought a 12" thick Serta queen size at Sams. Would rather sleep on it than the one in the house.
Keep in mind that a thick mattress will sit pretty high in most RV setups. I'm 6'-3" and have to climb into bed with the 12" mattress. But it lines up great with the small headboard shelves on either side of the bed. Choose your needs/wants carefully. ;-)

What type and where did you purchase it.
Thanks for the input.

We went to a store called Beds by Design in Sioux Falls, SD. They custom make the bed for you. Best thing we did, it saved our backs. There are all kinds of options available.

We also cut the platform down to a Queen.. and added reinforcement angles under the platform, as it had been sagging...
bought an either 8" or 10" memory foam mattress in a box, unpacked it, 2 days later.... a full queen size...

We went with an aftermarket mattress. We stayed with the same RV king size. However the mattress is heavier so I needed to change out the gas springs to 120lb units. The mattress decision was a no brainer. We have slept comfortably ever since installing it.

The gas struts you replaced were they the same length? just remove and replace with the heavier struts? I need to replace mine too, 11 inch memory foam King mattress, the struts don't hold up the weight.

we did the same, but I have a bad habit of reading in bed. From sitting up the foam top keeps sliding down about 6" and swallows my pillow, we are opting to put a new mattress in, we just returned from a 2 week trip to Florida and tired of wrestling the mattress top every morning

A little trick that we discovered may help with the sliding mattress topper. Get a couple of pieces of 20" x 6' non-skid shelf liners and place them beneath your mattress topper. Should stop the sliding. We use these on our outdoor lawn furniture cushions as well to prevent them from sliding out from underneath us. Amazing, cheap fix!

We did a real modification. We didn't like the king size because of the narrow distance between the bed and the room wall. A queen was too small. I noticed the wood platform was 67". We cut the RV king down to 67". Then went to Costco and bought a topper. We then cut the topper to match the mattress. We use king size sheets and it works great. Feels like we're on a king with more walking room between the bed and the wall.

I just replaced the gas struts with the 120lbs version. I have a 10inch memory foam mattress with a 3 inch topper, residential king size. The gas struts work great. 3 spinal surgeries it’s imparative I’m very comfortable!! Thank you for the recommendation !
