Black window sealant

I have a '13 3402RL and it looks like the black window sealant is starting to ooze out around the windows.
Should I just cut off the oozed out part or do I need to reseal? If so, with what?

I happened on my 2011 ... I just carefully trimmed it away and have had no issue with leaks in 4 years.

The sealant is what is known as black butyl tape. It is 3/4 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick. It isn't a liquid product from a tube. Yes, you can just scrape the excess off with a plastic tool. Any cleanup on the sidewall can be done with a dab of goo-gone applied to a paper towel. Trust me on knowing what it is since I just finished replacing two windows. John
