I made a reactive 'Lollipop' target

Nothing like that sound when a lucky bullet hits the steel, and it swings, congratulating you for hitting it.
Took all day, I was engineering as I went, I was going to heat-treat it, but ran out of motivation. I kept adding steel, so it is fairly stout, don't have a high-powered rifle I will be using, so it will be fine.

The target:

Nice target, now if you could make that in the shape of a prairie dog that can be seen at 500 yards, I'll bring my heavy .308

After I posted the picture, I saw that... not intended, I assure you. I had intended to make it the other way up, but couldn't get the balance right. I had 3 cut pcs of metal laying around, so I welded them on. Being so close to the work, I didn't even see it.
Only me.. IT IS JUST WeIGHT FOLKs!
It is not easy being a goof...

I think it will withstand the .38 and the 9mm, but a rifle might be too much for it. I mainly wanted a target for my .22 Mag, I have to get used to it.

I have a friend who shot one at 2157 yards, down in Green river Wy. 300 ultra mag, real heavy barrel, 220 grain Burgers, 12 to 42 Night Force scope.

OZZ. You ever notice that the Palo Verde plant does not have a river to cool it? They used to have a range out there, but you can't get thru the gate now.

You know I did wonder about that, I guess the underground Aquifer maybe?
The BLM is one big shooting range. I have spent many hours cleaning up after shooters on Saddle Mountain.

Good job Ozz!

We pretty much beat up on these guys anywhere from 500 to 1000 yards. AR-400 and 500 steel is pretty tough stuff.

Some .308 goodness.

Wow, seeing a prarie dog at almost a 1/2 mile away is good in itself. Shooting one dead at that distance is more that just a serious shot!

I's not 1/2 mile its 1 1/4 mile.
One of the guys in the shop and I were watching the Today Show early this week as they showed how easy it was to take a picture of someone at 1/2 mile, We smiled. Let me tell how easy it is to shoot something at that distance.
A friend and I were grown hog hunting last October. It was a slow day, cold and windy. We spotted one laying on his den. As I checked the range with my laser range finder, 775 yards Dennis checked wind speed 5 to 8 mph, at about 45 degrees from left to right. We checker out ballistic charts and adjusted our scopes. It was Dennis' shot. As we usually do I watcher through my scope as he touched the 2 ounce trigger on his 6-284. The bullet hit the hog in the middle of the chest. I hadn't shot any so I touched the trigger on my 20X47. It hit in the middle of his head.
