There has been a lot of discussion on this subject in the past here. You might want to try the search function if you can get it to work for you.

A lot of us have purchased memory foam mattress toppers that make the OEM mattress much more tolerable.

With our old TT we had to replace the mattress and just went down to our local mattress store, told them our size needs and bought one there. It cost us less than $100 for a decent full size mattress. Now that we have our Mountaineer, we will be replacing it sometime soon and they gave us a quotes for between $125-$200. We like our mattresses quite firm due to low back issues and they have to be a decent quality. We can't use those memory foam things. Anyway, I thought this was a pretty good deal. Someone will tell me if I'm clueless about the prices.

Send a message via MSN to Parrothead
When we ordered our replacement mattress (we needed a shorter one) the shop we went to said we could order one in whatever quality we wanted.
From $200 to $800 so I think you can get whatever you want. We went for $500 because I have back problems.
Happy trails.....................

We replaced ours with a Bear Bed air mattress. This works great for us.Two adjustable chambers so we can have different settings of firmness. They are advertised in Good Sam's Highway magazine or you can find them on line. Around $500.

Several of us have the "bear Bed" http://www.bearbeds.com/ultrabear.html depends on your needs.. most any quality mattress will work. Another plus for the bear bed is that the air pumps are integral to the bed..nothing on the floor.

R/E mattress
We purchased our mattress from Relief Mart. in Cal. on the internet. They custom made a memory foam mattress with 5 layers and guarantee 120 days to make any changes. They were fabulous and we are very happy with our new mattress.

We put a 2 inch memory foam on our RV bed and it made a world of difference. Very comfortable. You can get them from Sam's. We bought a 3 inch Memory Foam for the stick house and it is also great. We will see if the 2 inch is still as comfortable as the 3 inch model. Plan to go to a rally in Kerrville, Tx is a few weeks so we will see if we still like the 2 inch model.

Rich and Helen, looking at one of the bear beds and just wondering what are your pros and cons to this? Do you like this bed? I have heard of the select comfort beds but not this one.
Thanks, Kathy

We have the sleep comfort, and really like it. I think it's a matter of personal preference. Bear is good, sleep comfort, meory foram, all foam, they are all good. just a matterof preference,IMO

Bear bed and select comfort are for all practical purposes the same bed. Since the "Sleep Number" is A select comfort patient bear bed can't use that name and they have no numbers on their control. The select comfort has external air pumps, the bear bed has their's built in.
Select comfort has retail stores...bear bed does not. We looked the select comfort bed over carefully and were going to buy one till someone on this forum suggested the bear bed.We are completly satisfied with the bear bed.

If you go to Select Comfort forgo the padded top and other junk. We spent about 550 bucks for a plane jane model. Them added the dual remote which was another 175 dollars. Remember to air DOWN when going over higher passes. Ours looked like a basketball.

Campbud...good idea on checking out the select comfort bed...when looking keep in mind that the two things that are different are...No numbers on the bear bed control...the air pumps are internal on the bear bed.. You have to find your own spot on the bear bed but it is no big deal.

And yes on bigmurf's post..they do blow up at altitude.

Since my teens, I have awaken with back pain.... Until I bit the bullet and agreed to buy a Select Comfort matress. Once I found the right setting for my body it has been so nice waking up feeling GOOD!

We didnt spend as much money as you may think. We only bought the matress itself, no digital controllers, box springs, extra thick matress tops, just the basic King size matress. It was about $800 if I remember correctly. That is a lot of money, VERY MUCH worth it though.

Hope that helps
Mike
