Bump stops on 20k hitch

I recently bought a 20k Reese Elite hitch. I noticed that with my set up to keep camper level while towing it was set on the second to lowest holes. I have good movement front to back on pivoting but side to side it only moves less that an inch. If I remove the bump stops (rubber stoppers on each side) then I get more movement that feels more correct and doesn’t feel like it’s putting opposing pressure on the camper if when turning into gas station that generally will have a slight rise versus the road that you are entering from. Have a good 6-7 inches clearance from bottom of front cap to top of bed rails. Thoughts on this??
