Battery charging from TV

I have a Chev Silverado - I have put in the fuse in the block for charging the batteries while driving. I get 12v at the plug in but batteries are not charging. Is there an in line fuse somewhere in the wiring to the battery?? - I drove 400 miles one day and the batteries did not charge at all - Chevy manual recommends driving with lights on to assist in charging (???)
Anyone out there help?

On my SOB I have to have the battery switch on in the coach to charge the batteries. With it off, brakes, lights, everything seems to work but it also doesn't charge the batteries -- so you might want to check and make sure you don't have the battery disconnect switch off (if equipped with one).

Best of luck finding the answer - please post and let us know what you ultimately find to be the problem.

i had the problem and it was the fuse in my ford pickup. i was told that if my pickup was running and my battery in the camper was low when i pluged the cord into the pickup it would blow the fuse in my pickup for charging the camper. i did not believe it but it did.

The charge rate for charging the battery from the tow vehicle is going to very low. The loss of voltage and current from the alternator through that long small wire to the back of the truck will be high. If you start at 13.5 volts DC at the alternator you are lucky to get 12 volts at the battery. Don't count on charging a dead battery with your tow vehicle. It might top off a barely discharged battery after a long trip.
