Lead acid to Lithium change requirements?

2010 3150RL - Switching from 2 deep cycle lead acid batteries in parallel to self-contained Lithium batteries (presumably 2 in parallel):

1. Can I simply take 2 out and put 2 in and wire them up the same?

2. Do I need (or better yet, should I need) to use the vent covers?

3. 50Amp system - Is there anything special I need to do in the circuit breaker panel by the front door to accommodate the lithium batteries?

4. I still have the basic simple red monitor lights for battery and tanks, so do I need a different/special battery monitor?

Anything else that I haven't thought of or tips to watch out for?

Larry,

1. Can I simply take 2 out and put 2 in and wire them up the same? yes

2. Do I need (or better yet, should I need) to use the vent covers? no

3. 50Amp system - Is there anything special I need to do in the circuit breaker panel by the front door to accommodate the lithium batteries? your existing converter will work but will not provide optimum charging losing some of the lithium benefit

4. I still have the basic simple red monitor lights for battery and tanks, so do I need a different/special battery monitor? no, but a battery monitor is much better than the existing lights at giving you battery status

We can help a little more if we understand how you use your rig. How much do you boondock? Do you also have solar? If you primarily camp with shore power lithium might be overkill and switching to AGM might be more cost effective.

We've made 2 big trips since purchase with about 50% parks, 25% boondocking, and 25% moochdocking as we visited family. I purchased a Point Zero Titan system a couple of years ago along with 10 X 100 Watt Flex panels with the idea of putting them on the roof of my newly purchased RV so that we could boondock if we wanted (or at least deploying them on the ground). I've since learned that's not so easy. We plan to travel more, but with crowded parks, we may boondock or be at non-FH type parks.

Larry,

Based on your planned use, lithium seems reasonable. To fully charge the batteries options include replacing your converter with with a stand alone lithium compatible converter, adding an inverter/charger or solar with a charge controller set to lithium.

The inverter/charger would give you a/c power while boondocking plus give you a charger that can be set for lithium.

If you don't change anything other than the batteries you will still have more capability than you currently have.

There are several threads here that have covered these questions. Here is a fairly recent one: https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=79933
