$80,000 - 100,000 units that they put junk furniture in... Looks good at shows and show rooms but lasts about 2-3yrs and then starts flaking & falling apart. Lippert/Thomas Payne supply most of or all of the THOR lineups. They no the furniture will start falling apart and yet continue to use it. If our car interiors started to fail like this there would be hell to pay. Replacement of $10,000 or more and the hassle of doing so is going to eventually catch up to these companies and their market share will fall. We had planned on trading in our 2015 in 4-5yrs but there is little to no point in that as the repairs will start again for things that should have been done right the first time and the new ones have the same issues and even less quality than their predecessors.... Sad state of the RV industry that will come back to bite them in the arse in a few short years........

It is true the pleather furniture flakes in short order and is a common and well known issue in many brands. We had the pleather changed out when we ordered our 13 3402 as we knew about that problem for years.

We own land in Sinkhole country so we pitched ours Montana furniture into the hole, archeologists in the distant future may study this Montana Furniture Culture, and graduate students may write thesis about how it made good erosion control. Next we pitched our King Bed mattress into the hole and it was even better at slowing the down erosion. If we could get enough Montanas furniture manufactured and pitched we could stop up or slow down the sinkholes.

Leather Furniture Also Peeling

All the "leather" furniture in our 2-yr old 2018 Montana 3950BR is peeling bad in some areas. I thought when I bought this RV that I was purchasing a "premium brand"....but not the case. Cheap furniture, A/C doesn't cool very well, had problems with the furnace, control board on one of the A/C's needed replacement. And of course none of this happened within the 1-year warranty!

Same thing happened to our 2015. We spent over 2 months off and on negotiating with Keystone and lippert (actual furniture supplier). Best offer we got was 40% discount on new furniture. Disgusting to say the least.

I would say that's a win in this scenario compared to what they usually do about furniture. I'm guessing the discount is for the same brand. A refund for another brand would be better. Anyway, congratulations.

Took my peeling/flaking "Pleather" sofa to a local Auto/RV upholstery shop and they replaced the covering with new better material. I was impressed. Copied the original pleats and pattern perfectly.

The peeling "pleather" furniture is a known, and long going, problem for Keystone and other RV makers. The covering is poorly constructed and adhesion to the fabric underneath just doesn't work. Lippert thinks Thomas Payne is the cat's meow...or used to. After their non stop failures, and refusal to try to remedy any situation, on this unit I was told the "new" Thomas Payne furniture had "all new" material that was configured and adhered in a new way that eliminated the past problems....AND if I purchased their "fabric protection policy" for $2395 it would be good for 5 years.....

We found on our last trip a few weeks ago that the "pleather" on our theater seats was starting to shed and peel on the head rests. Since our 2016 3160 RL is now four years old, I hold little hope that Lippert or Thomas Payne would be of little help to us.

We have a good friend who is owns an upholstery shop near us. When our 2013 Crossroads 5th wheel had the pleather start to fall apart, he was able to match exactly the color of the fabric in our couch with a vinyl/naugahyde and did an excellent job repairing it. I'm going to give him a call and see what he can do to match the color of our dark brown theater seating and do his magic.

Don
