jacks lifting thr tires up?

We are new to this "used" Montana 5th wheel. When we park, unhook the pickup, and hit Level-Up, the jacks extend so far that they raise the tires off the ground. This doesn't seem normal or safe.

Anyone?

It's fine if they are hydraulic. Happens all the time.

An off-level site will cause this to happen. If you are on a level site, then this is not normal. Manually level the RV so the tires are still in contact with the ground and then reset the setting for the future.

Yes, we did that. We are actually in the driveway at home. This is not the first time it has happened.

Does anyone know if the middle jacks on a six point system, can be lowered manually? Don't have a manual to read as usual. Cant find on the web site either. Thanx

The 4 rear levelers operate together...same as only having a for jack hydraulic system. I find that using the system auto versus manual to be a waste of time as I can manually level faster and safer than auto mode.

Our level up freaked out several times and did weird stuff. Ever snice then I level it manually. Once off the truck I lower/raise the front to level according to my Hopkins stick on level indicators. (one front to back , one front to rear ). Then I raise the low side until level. Then lower the other side to the ground and fine tune. Works perfect every time. Will never use the auto level again. Just do not trust it.

Only had to reset mine once by manually lifting all 6 up and then retracting. Worked fine after.

If you are having problems with your six point level-up system give Lipppert/LCI Customer Service a call and they will walk you thru the entire analyzation set up and will tell you what the problem is and how to solve it.

I can actually level it faster and lower doing it manually.

I don't like having tires off the ground, especially since we use the scissor clamps between the tires to keep the rocking to a minimum. So when the tires come off the ground, we have 6 of those 1" thick hard rubber 10" x 10" pads and we will raise the side that the wheels are off the ground some more, and put 1-2 of those pads under the tires, and then raise all the jacks, and do the auto level again, and it comes out nice, and the tires are on solid ground. We have only had to do this about 5 times in the 100+ RV parks we have stayed at.

I agree, It is much more stabile with all tires on the ground. However I have on occasion stayed the night (1) with all 4 off the ground in a situation where we did not want to unhitch and leave very early in the morning.

I don't have level up system but all 4 tires off ground sounds like a problem. I can see low side tires off ground but why would high side be lifted off ground? Just wondering.

We have always used the auto level and it works perfectly. We do not want the jacks to extend real far as it affects the stability.We do use blocks under the jacks at all times to minimize the stroke.

rvsaures: No the middle jacks can't be operated manually. The 4 rear operate together. I lower the front jacks, then find "front to rear" & lower/raise rear (4) jacks. then find "side-to-side" and either push right or left till everything is level
