Southern Texas Campgrounds
We don't know much about and where to go in southern Texas for snow bird camping. We don't need a lot amenities only tennis, swimming pool, dog park, but something nice, clean and fairly inexpensive ($900.00 or less a month). Looking for a campground where the campers are not inches apart. Probably arriving early December until April 1st. We have a 40 foot 5th wheel with five slide outs. Any campground suggestions?

If you google it you will find a ton of them in the Brownsville, Donna, Harlingen area. Most are very nice. In a minute someone with first hand knowledge will chime in with more details. The book pretty far out in advance is what I have heard so pick one early. Good luck.

At with regards to the Encore parks in the RGV they are all clean and safe. Some with more amenties than others. We didn't have a bad time at any of them.

Check out Pioneer Beach Resort in Port Aransas. We have stayed there the last three years and really enjoy it.

We looked at a lot of them and settled on Bentsen Palm Village, next to a large bird sanctuary, on the Rio Grande River, in McAllen. As others have said, lots of great parks in the Rio Grande Valley ("RGV"), most have a large range of activities and facilities. It may be a different story if the Covid-19 restrictions persist, but no doubt you will be able to find some options to suit your needs. I would try to get some detailed pictures or site maps to check on closeness to your neighbors. We found the newer parks have more space and are better suited to modern rigs.
Happy hunting.

There may be a nicer RV park in the Valley than Bentsen Palm Village, but we have not found it. This is certainly not the least expensive of the parks, but I think it is the best. Especially enjoy being able to walk (or bike) right into the State Park (which has no camping). Really great dog park and lots of activities. Of course, in the Valley you can plan your activities around ALL the park communities, not just the one you are staying in.
