Generator Ah ha Moment

Sometimes we out think ourselves. Prior to getting our Super Solar rig, we always traveled with two Honda 2000’s in parallel. To save weight and the speed of lithium charging, I brought one along to Alaska. My generator setup had fuel feed caps with disconnects to a vented tank. Well, generator would run 10 minutes and shut off. It also ran really rough. Part one I figured out laying in bed hoping power lasted till morning - 32 degrees and 60% battery. I forgot to turn charger from 50 amp to 10 amp. Did that first thing. Started generator and it died. Ah ha #2. No vented gas cap. Loosened, cap and running like a champ. Getting 75 amps to batteries. We are in forested provincial park, it’s been rainy and furnace running a lot. Will try to find a vented gas cap along the way. Hopefully this helps someone else down the road.
