Pin Box Recalled

Hey All,

I just received a letter from Keystone/Montana and there is a recall on my pin box saying that the rubber pad the they have between the pin and the plate is coming loose. They want us to take the unit in to the dealership for inspection of the pin box. Anybody get one of these "LOVE" letter's

Charlie, Montana must be slow, that's been a known problem with the Rota-Flex for at least several years.
Seems Lippert isn't too good with Pin Boxes. I had their Tri-Glide on our unit and ended up changing to a MORryde. Even DRV switched from MORryde to the Tri-Glide and because of problems switched back to MORryde.
Just seems you can't beat MORryde.

I've read of folks carrying a block of wood and big hammer to drive the Rubber block into place, don't know what would happen if it were to come out.
I think the problem has been resolved, but sounds like Keystone has a large supply of old King Pin Boxes.

I was suprised the last couple of years by the number of folks replacing new lippert pin boxes with Moryde at the national rally.

That tells me there is a serious issue if they're taking such quick action.

Did the letter reference any part numbers/serial numbers/date of manufacture?

I thought this happened a few years ago. I saw on a video from Changing Lanes that they had a recall on their pin box soon after they bought their trailer. Maybe the newer version now has a recall as well.

Yes it did but I don't want to put that kind of information out here. It is model 1621 18,000 LBS roto flex pin box. The problem is possible " de lamination of the cushion block"

Ours is not RotaFlex, but is a Trailair RoadArmor by Lippert. Do you know if this one is also a problem? It's on a 2019 3791RD.

I don't know but you can call Keystone Owner's recall list at 866-425-4369, have your VIN number ready and they will look up any and all recall's that you have on your unit

I don't see anything on the pin box here: https://www.keystonerv.com/owners/recalls/

I did find something on axle spindles that has me crawling underneath to check the serial numbers on the axles... Not that I don't trust our dealer did this...........LMAO

Lippert has a recall website where you enter the VIN and go from there. I wouldn't take Keystone's word as being up to date.

I'll have to go find the pin box serial number on it before I can run the number on the Lippert site as I suspect there will be no connection the the Monty's serial number. I don't see any on line info anywhere thus far indicating a recall though...

The way Lippert keeps changing names on it's products it's hard to know if the Roto-Flex and Road Armor might or might not be the same.
Don't see Road Armor on the Lippert site, so might be their name for products sold to Keystone as we have friends with an Alpine with Road Armor and to me looks the same as a Roto Flex.

I suspected as much. I initially thought Road Armor was from Morryde, since the suspension and other things list that name as well. Now I'm guessing it's just a "package" type of name.

Thanks for the recall site link. Our cargo tray has been recalled. I'm checking the axles now too.
