Coach Lighting

Newbie question here. Today was the first time (we've only made 3 four day trips so far) that I went into the coach without first hooking up to shore power. Guess what - no lights! I thought they ran off of 12 volts. The battery is up, the landing gear and stabilizers worked ,so wassup? What am I doing wrong? Addendum - the coach is a 2010 3400RL.

Jerry, only certain lights are 12volt many are 120VAC, perhaps you're trying to turn on the 120s. You must hold your tongue a certain way also.

If you have no lights then I would check the 12volt switch in the convenient center where you hook up water, cable tv etc. If that switch is off it kills 12 volts to the rest of the inside.
The landing legs and stabilizers are wired outside of the control panel.
Let us know what you find.

Or hopefully your batteries aren't dead. If you are still attached to the truck and the 12v lights work, then the batteries have gone bye bye. If you connect to shore power and they work, then they are running off the 12v converter being supplied by the shore power. Hopefully, someone figured our from your model (3455?) that you might need the switch turned out.

To help us out, you might want to put up your model and years for your TV and RV so that folks can help you if it is a specific model problem. For example, I do not have the convenience center and don't have to worry about the switch.

Just curious, if you hold on to your tongue when you touch electricity will it hurt more?

Phil I think your correct only certain lights will work, 12 volt type. But the tongue thing, I'm not sure about. It sure is fun owning a RV there is alway something. But remember everyday is a Holiday if your retired. Question is what am I going to do today, however if I don't get it done I'll do it tomorrow if I have time. GBY

Wife: What are you going to do today?

Me: Oh, nothing.

Wife: But that's what you did yesterday!

Me: Yeah, I'm not done with it yet.

So it sounds like holding your tongue is what I used to do to Scouts when I sent them out for a left handed smoke bender.

Thanks to everyone who replied - just got around to working on the problem. Discovered that both 40A fuses were blown. I'll have to investigate further . . .

If it is blowing fuses like that get it checked under your warranty. When you find out what the problem is let us know please.

New trailer, you may want to do some quick checks but if anything more serious get the warranty involved. You don't want to give anyone the excuse that you fiddled with it.
