RV Trip Wizard

I'm a huge fan of RV Trip Wizard but since the recent update it absolutely HATES Edge ... Support is great and are working closely to assist. It seems to maybe like Chrome better, not my favorite. Primarily it is the drag/Drop function and removing weight points.

What are others using?

Any issues with EDGE/ RVTRIP?

I use it with FireFox without issues. But I am a novice user and still learning. Drag/Drop are above my skill level right now. In fact I wasn't aware they existed. I was a long time fan and user of MS S&T and miss that feature.

P.S. I moved your Post to a new Thread as it didn't fit with the Thread where it was.

Our daughter is a website designer. Sometimes a client complains that his or her website does not look very good in Edge. She suggests using a different browser as there are issues with Edge. Most people don’t use it. The only thing Edge is good for is downloading a better browser.

I am trying to set up our trip wizard with our hot spot so it will talk us through the route. I have succeeded in transferring my map from trip wizard to Google Maps. Lost from there. We are trying to work it off of our laptop which will be set up in the truck. How do I get google maps to work (verbal directions) or do I have to install another program like Garmin, Rand McNally, etc. Will this work from my computer or do I have to use a phone app? Totally above my pay grade. Thank you Jerome & Judy

This is not my area of expertise, but your laptop likely doesn't have a GPS. Google maps needs a GPS to determine where you are and then provide the correct directions to get you to your destination.

Years ago I used MS Streets and Trips with a GPS puck on a laptop and it did want you want. But that product is no longer supported.

I am pretty sure that for Google maps to talk to you you need a phone or a tablet. Today's tablets are large enough to be actually easily visible and usable. I periodically use mine rather the the on-board GPS.

You can get a Garman GPS puck either Bluetooth or corded to work with your MS computer.

I don’t think an IPad will work with a GPS MS puck. If that isn’t correct someone correct this please.

An iPad has a GPS. I just don't know if Google maps will work on an iPad.

If you have a Trip Wizard Subscription and are planning trips on your laptop you can download the RV Life (PRO) app for free to your phone. Your planned trips will sync to your phone and you can use that for turn by turn and as a gps.

If you need some extra help with this, there is a special forum section set up over at iRV2 just for trip Wizard questions and a lot of seasoned users there who may be able to help: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f287/

Well, had to send two more help requests to RV Trip Wizard again today. Need to possible send more. Biggest was it routing me thru a 12' 3" bridge ... Also no sense routings adding extra mileage, also looks like they lost campgrounds.

I didn't realize that RV Life (Pro) synched with RV Trip Wizard, that is great. We have been using RV Trip Wizard (RVTW) for a year or more and part way through last year started using RV Life (Pro) for RV GPS.
We have not had any problems running RVTW with Chrome on either my Windows PC or my iPhone.
On the height issue, I assume you have your rigs dimensions set up in the Trip Settings | RV Info.

Please see if your RVTRIPWizard (RVTW) is doing the same as mine - routing from Livingston to Alexandria Texas, with RV DATA loaded/engaged, it routes over the Red River that has a 12' 3" clearance …

RVTW said the following in regards to my concerns:

Unfortunately we do not have any control of that and cannot predict when it will be corrected. All we can do is report it to them, which we always do. I do know that it is their policy to verify any change made to their routing, so it will probably some time before that will happen. This is true for all routing providers.
One thing I will say is that there is not a single navigation system in existence that is perfect, they all have issues and mistakes that will sometimes guide you wrong. It is always a good idea to use multiple sources for navigation and even then you may have routing problems.

Sorry I cannot find Alexandria, TX (do you mean Alexander, TX) and am not sure where the Red River is (sorry not from Texas). If I route from Livingstone, TX to Alexander, TX it takes me via Houston.

After a little googling I think he means Alexander La and the old bridge over the Red River. I have not been there but looking at google earth it looks like they are in the process of replacing the 80 year old Allen Bridge - 13-6 low clearance steel truss bridge. This is no help to the RV Trip Wizard issue - just locates the bridge in question. The aerial pic shows it under construction but street views look like the new bridge is finished and open.
