Need some help here
Hello all,
We have a beautiful 2021 Montana 3854BR with the Legacy Package and factory paint loaded with all the options. We have only used it a dozen times in Canada since we purchased. It’s been sitting in inside storage which has been expensive especially since we haven’t been able to enjoy.
Since we haven’t used it much we advertised it for sale here in Ontario Canada but have had only a few tire kickers and it seems no one here wants to spend a lot on a fifth wheel here since our summer season is so short.
Here is my question, what would the members of this forum recommend to effectively sell this fifth wheel? Should I pull it to Florida or Texas and try to sell it there since there is more demand? What’s the best way to sell? RV trader or through a Montana dealer on consignment? Really appreciate your recommendations here. Thank you in advance.

I was thinking between $80-85k usd. It’s literally brand new, still smells new too. Just need some recommendations how to sell it!

How does that work for titling?
If it's currently titled in Canada and you have a buyer in the US, how would they get a new title in the the US?

We tried several of the 'normal' RV sale places without success, other than lookers. As a last resort, listed it in the local paper and sold it to a couple from out of town here visiting relatives.

Don't know about Facebook in Canada, but I sold ours on Facebook Marketplace in 2 days. But that is in Texas and in May of 2021.
If you can't sell locally, and want to try selling in the US then a consignment may be a good option. You could contact an RV consignment company in the US to find out the logistics of that. There are lots of them. Google it. Doesn't have to be a Montana dealer. Lots of pro and cons listed.

RV trader
We just bought a 2022 BR385. We found it in South Carolina and we live in Florida. The price was right and we went and bought it. I would try RV Trader. If I didnt just buy this one, I would come to Canada for yours!

We sold a 5th Wheel here in Texas by using a consignment company called PPL https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/ They have multiple locations in Southern Texas. When you contract with them, they'll ensure your rig is fully clean and will keep it clean as long as it's there (for a small fee). Our 5th Wheel sold within 5 days of being listed. I helped my sister-in-law sell her motor home using PPL and her's was sold with 2weeks of listing it. Check out the website since it gives you another option. Best of luck in selling your 5er!

I would think a Canadian title would be accepted as we ship a lot of vehicles to the US…

Try listing it through the RVTrader. That's where we found ours.

We contracted with PPL for a 6 month consignment where they took a percentage of the sale. For an extra $350 they guaranteed washing of the exterior and cleaning of the interior from foot traffic caused by those viewing the 5er. Our old 5er was 30 feet and that drove the price. Part of the prep prior to listing it involved a detailed initial washing and wax as well. My sister-in-law’s motor home was 40 feet and she was charged $450. We thought it was a good deal for us at the time.

You might want to check to see what some US dealers are selling the same model for today. I've noticed some dealers are offer some double-digit discounts and especially if they have hold over inventory.
