Friction hinge on door

Just updated to 2018 Montana 345. Door hinge so sticky it creaks and squeaks . Too tight and can't get it lubed up to improve. Hinges flex a lot. Any tricks to loosen up a little. . Thank you

Our 2015, friction hinges so tight two of them cracked. I finally removed all and replaced with standard hinges and installed a door latch to hold the door open.

Look at those flimsy non mortise hinges. Four screws total. One screw each in the end flaps which in turn twists it when tughtening, causing a bind on the pin and then squeals. Lube away and the squeals MAY stop for a few swings



You may have more clearance between the frame then our 5ers doors and can use replacements from either Lowe's (Gatehouse brand) or Home Depot (Primeline). If a good carpenter, you could alternatively take the doors off and use mortise type hinges. Or piano hinges which I have considered.


I'm trying the Gatehouse brand in the next few days but am not upbeat since the HD Primelines were too thick. If all else fails, I'll open the clearance with a run through my table saw which of course means I'll need to do some staining too.

Used to have the same problem.
Now, once a year, I just spray the hinge and latch with Blaster Dry Lube.
Door moves freely, latches effortlessly and friction still holds door open.

Thanks I'll try that first. Was ready to loosen one hinge at a time to see if only one was the problem thanks again .

I have to say if your rig has friction hinges on the doors, it sure isn't like our 5er. Pull a hinge off. If the three leaves flop on the pin, it sure isn't a friction device
