Any good campsites near Fargo ND

I am having a very hard time getting a reservation for a 41 foot monty near Fargo ND in August (5th). Seems only one city park and it is full already. Two other parks do not allow reservations until May. It is hard to plan an all summer trip out to MOunt Rushmore and then back to Michigan before all the reservations are gone. Any suggestions? How do some people travel without reservations a year in advance?

Thee are two highly rated parks about 40 miles west in Buffalo that are taking reservations according to their websites. Also a MN State Park is highly rated about 20 miles east in Glyndon.

If Lindenwood is full your could try Buffalo River State Park near Glyndon, MN as Carl said, but there is a pretty good chance that will be full as well.

You might check with the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo. They have full hookup sites and is less than 1/2 mile off of I 94. No shade there, but they are a good place to stay and see the sites.

There is also an isolated park about 30 minutes NE of the Fargo area called Brewer Lake. It is a pretty popular county park and it is a little more secluded. Might still be able to get reservations there.

Living in the area, I have never camped at any of these locations, but I know (in the case of Brewer Lake) locals frequent it for a weekend get-away.

Good luck!

You may want to check out the campground in Barnesville, MN.

Hello and good luck in that area. We grew up just south of Fargo and go back every couple years to visit family. No real good place in Fargo / Moorhead metro area for a longer unit. 3 years ago we tried Lindenwood. The upper level sites are VERY tight to get into so we choose the lower level down by the river. It looks nice with online pic's, BUT the incline from front to back is ridiculous. Our unit is 36' and I could walk under our hitch pin without ducking, I'm 5' 10". We had the longest spot down there-not ideal. West Fargo fairground or about 20 minutes west is Casselton. A newer RV park there-we have not stayed at either so no personal info for ya --but options are limited in the area. Just FYI. Safe travels.

We stayed at the Red River Valley Campground, West Fargo the last week of August 2024 for about a week while visiting family. The campground is OK however, there are 30 AMP and 50 AMP sites, with water and sewer. Unfortunately, all campsites are on a first come basis and no reservations. We noticed everyday people cruised the campground looking for open sites. If you found a campsite, you parked in the site and paid the fee at the campground restrooms. We stayed in our 38 ft (plus bike rack) Montana 3231 CK Legacy 5th Wheeler.

The camp manager stated the campground is expecting to expand their campground but, he didn't give any specific dates. There is also parking without hookups.

I used to live in Fargo. There are two campgrounds in Fargo, ND

Lindenwood Park (nice park)
1701 5th St S, Fargo, ND 58103
GPS: 46.849464,-96.780413
701-232-3987

Red River Valley Fair (can be kind of sketchy)
1805 West Main Avenue, West Fargo, ND 58078
GPS: 46.872881,-96.926197
701-282-2200

## Typically when we are going to Fargo we stay at: ##
Wagner Park (very nice - only 20 minutes out of Fargo (Minnesota side))
190th St South, Barnesville, MN 56514
GPS: 46.659496,-96.404861
800-354-2292

Another option is
Mapleton City Park (only 20 minutes out of Fargo (North Dakota side))
Meridian Rd, Mapleton, ND 58059
GPS: 46.890578,-97.052993
701-282-6992

Hope this helps some

There is a little Harvesthost Red Trail Vineyard. We stayed there a few years ago and they turned a pasture into a little RV Campground.

Was very peaceful there..
