Hi! New Member Here
We have owned several different brands of Campers in the past and even a Class A DP.
We have owned a Montana before in the past and thought the build quality was good!
Right now we are looking at a used 2020 High Country 373RD seems to be in excellent shape but what are things I need to look for?
Thanks Matt

Welcome to the forums and I hope you are pleased with your decision to get another Montana. Good luck in your selection.
About inspections and such? Actually, everything on the camper is subject to close inspection and is a possible trouble spot in the near future. I say, in the "near" future, as in time, everything will eventually fail.... eventually.
For the most part, as you probably already know, the roof and look for signs of water intrusion. Second, the trailer suspension and frame. Look for cracks and any obvious structural failures.
Considering the camper is now 5 years old, the original bugs should be worked out. What remains is normal wear and tear from the previous owner. As with any used vehicle, it's all a matter of how well the previous owner took care of the camper and fixed things as they started failing. So, everything is subject to a scrutinized inspection... everything.

Welcome. I am also new here. Just speaking from my own experiences. I would probably never buy a used rv. I’m on my second now and my first one was a total pos/lemon, it spend at least 2( total time)of the 6 years I owned it in the shop. Nearly every appliance had an issue, frame flex issues, issues with the floor, front cap and side walls, electrical issues . It was a 2019 Hideout fifth wheel. I had it all fixed so when I traded it in it looked like it was in pretty good condition. But there is no carfax with RVs, no database for repairs like with a car. I know new ones aren’t perfect and problems should be expected but I would rather have a factory warranty for those issues and try to resolve as much as possible in the first year or so. But if I was to buy used then I would treat it like buying new. Do a thorough inspection (PDI) or hire a Mobile Rv tech to look it over. Have the seller set it up in camping configuration, slides out, plugged in, connected to water, and do a walkthrough test everything you can and ask a lot of questions.

Welcome.
There is a PDI (pre delivery inspection), in the files section.
With some due diligence you should be fine.
Good luck

I don't think I would buy new. They keep updating things with new tech items which as many electronic things do, they fail. i.e. Global In Command - hearing about issues with it. 2 or 3 different slide types. Many have had a slide repaired several times. I have hydraulic and after the first 2 months have not had a problem in 10 years. The list goes on. My thought is 'keep it simple' and maybe it would be more reliable.
Oh, and I spent my whole career as a programmer and have used tech since 1980 when I bought an Apple computer with serial number around 7000. LOL

There are pros and cons to buying new or used. There is no right or wrong.
As most have seen the quality control on new rigs is not close to the auto industry. The relationship between the manufacturer and dealers is also different. Auto dealers often only sell one brand creating better knowledge through better training where RV dealers typically sell multiple brands. New will offer the most current gear and options - mostly good but the switch to 12 volt refers has become a negative.
The value of warranty varies widely based on the dealer you are dealing with.
Buying used particularly from a private party may offer a unit where the initial bugs have been worked off and may offer an upgrade or two. Talking to the owner will often provide better info on the unit. In states where private party sales are not taxed you will also save a fair amount of money on the initial purchase. You could also be buying someone else's problems.
I have done both successfully.

Just my opinion, the High-Country models are a little bit of a step down to the Montana. IE - Soft close doors and cabinet drawers and Interior upgrades overall all. Good luck!
