Truck Tire Wear
Has anyone had trouble with tire wear on their trucks? I replaced a set of Michelins after 14k miles and the new ones are a third gone in about 12k miles. Tire dealer said the Goodyear Assurance may last longer but not quite as smooth of ride. Wondering what others are finding.

I did not have good luck with Michelins on my 2009 RAM 2500. Only got 12k out of a 70000 mile tire. Front tires wore faster than rear.

I'm running Toyos on my Dodge 1ton mega cab and have to rotate front to rear every 10,000 miles or so to even out the wear. I get about 35,000 miles before I have to get new ones.

Ron,
I had terrible wear on my last set of Michelins after 35K miles on 70k mile tires. Took them to my tire guy. He looked at them and instructed me to call Michelin customer service and open a case. Took the case number back to him, measured tread depth and call the numbers back to Michelin. They offered a replacement set for 1/3 the price I'd paid for the first set. I accepted that only because my tire guy said he has not seen many problems with the tire I had. Have 8k miles on them now and wear looks normal. Time will tell. I do feel like Michelin was more than fair in handling this matter. Jim

Since I do a lot of off road I have Goodyears and they've given us good service.

Those RAMs must not like Michelins. My F350 with OEM Michelin 20" tires has 29,000 miles and the tires look good for another 20,000 or more. Have always gotten very good mileage on Michelins on my trucks and wife's cars and SUVs (also Ford products).

I have Michelins on my F250 with 20 inch rims and will get about 30,000 miles out of them. That is about what I got out of the first set of Michelins and about that out of the OEMs.

We have the original tires to the truck. I think they are General Tires. just over 15K miles and tires still look good. I do need to have them rotated though.

I got 50K on my factory Michelins. They were not yet at their wear bars but replaced them in the fall before snow weather. Probably gave up 5 to 10 thousand miles. Put another set in. Just rotated them this weekend....all looked good after 10 thousand miles or so.

I have 35K on my tires and about 20K was pulling the Montana. They still have a lot of wear left. You can look at them at the Central Plains Rally.

I have about 38K on mine and they are at the end of their life. Had an 02 F250 that had Goodyears that I got 92K on them told the tire guy I wanted the same make and model and he laughed. If they made them that good they wouldn't sell replacements and go out of business.

The General's that came on my F350 could get me stuck in wet grass, so they came off and BFG's went on. Coming up on 30,000 miles and they still look new. I have rotated them 3 times.
I ran Michelins on a couple previous trucks. They rode good but even pulling 7,000 pound construction trailers I never could get much life out of them.

Just bought new Michelen's, however prev BFG's had 65k on them. Had steady performance with Michelen's in the past and went back. Tire sizes are 17's. Not sure if 18's or 20's perform equally as 17's.
Could that make any diff?

Sounds like your truck might be dog tracking, you will need to do a 4 wheel, 2 axel alignment. the camper will accelerate the wear if the rear axel is out of alignment by trying to pull the truck straight and the tires will take the punishment. IMHO

I've got over 10K on our Michelin and just had them rotated and they look better than normal. I try real hard to rotate the tires every 6K, but was in Alabama and there wasn't a Discount Tire around so waited till I got back to Texas to have it done.
