HP and Air Conditioning

It get's hot in the bedroom when the HP is running. ? can you run HP in main area and Air conditioning in the bedroom at the same time. I thought they shared the same duct work, but wonder if I can hurt anything trying to run both. Karen

You can but the two will be fighting each other because of the supply ducts they share. Unless your bedroom unit is independent it’s pointless

Point the air ducts in the BR towards the door. Tape over them.
Set a small fan on the dresser pointing towards the top of the door frame.

Consider replacing the vents in the bedroom with ones that can be closed. Ours in our SOB can be closed, so closing them and closing the door keeps the heat in the Living area and keeps the Bedroom cooler for sleeping.

We don't have that problem but it's probably because of our fix for the AC. We removed every other slat from most of our vents and also cut back the part of the vent mount that protrudes up into the ductwork to increase air flow. As a result most of the heat pumps volume drops into the living area.

Ours ACs are ducted together as well. We have the main thermostat that will run the heat pump and a separate thermostat for the bedroom. Our bedroom unit is not the whisper quiet or whatever they're called. I can open the dump slats in the BR and cool it down for sleeping. At night I set the heat pump so the BR is comfortable and the living area is a bit cool which DW is happy with.
