Screen Room Suggestions?

Merry Christmas fellow Montana Owners!

Howdy folks, the wife and I have a couple of doggos and we were thinking about throwing in a doggie door in our RV then having that lead out to a screen room fenced off at the bottom so they can do their business and come and go as they please.

So the question is, do you guy's know of any good screen room's that we can purchase? Info on these is pretty spotty it seems.

We have a 2019 Keystone Montana 3761FL. Any insight could be helpful.

P.S. I am still a newbie here. Hope I posted in the right location.

Just wondering; why don't you just open the door and take the dogs out to do their business? You've got to pick it up anyway....right? I've never seen a dog door cut into the side of a trailer that I recall. I do see many/most owners (thousands) just taking their dogs for "walks", as we do, to take care of business - on a leash.

Many/most parks do not allow a dog outside without human supervision or a leash (all) and many do not allow dogs to be put outside in an enclosure. I'm thinking just taking them for a walk is the easy and best way to go IMO.

Those are fair questions and comments especially for the conventional montana owner.

There's a couple of reasons we want to give our dogs the freedom to come and go on top of the walks they get.

They have always had a doggie door and they absolutely love it. I think we want them to have that again.

The wife and I are working remotely full day's and while we do have the freedom to let them out and take them randomly during the day we want them to be able to come and go as they please.

Also, this will be used on a lot of ours. So it wouldn't have leash free dogs at any parks. We would probably only be at parks when we are traveling IE: no work all play.

We had a screen room with our coleman pop up years ago and it was a pain to put up and take down. Maybe they have improved by now. I would not trust the screen room we had then to safely hold my dogs in all day. I think the topic has come up here in the last couple of years I have been reading the forum. Someone posted the funny pic below. Hope your dogs are not this energetic. You will note in my sig that I have a dog similar breed to this guy!

After a forest fire a few years ago, the FIL purchased a Jayco TT which he lived in on the property burned out by the fire. He had a dog door installed from the front small pass through into the bedroom, which were on the same floor level, and had a friend build a ramp up to the pass through, and his dog adapted to it quite well. That is a travel trailer, not a fifth wheel. The only way I see where a door could be cut in to the living area of a fifth wheel would be through the main door, and the dogs would have to be able to negotiate the steps, up and down, or a temporary ramp would have to be installed. Also, what ever containment area would have to enclose the steps. Unless you removed some furnishings, so a door could be cut through a wall, the door is your only option.

Lol my wife choked on water when she saw that crazy dog chewing through the door.

I didn't plan on solely relying on the screen room to keep the dogs in. I was hoping to build a little pen with temporary fencing too.. Although, I think it would work for them. The oldest never breached the barbed wire fence I had in brazil and it was just two strands of cable.

They wouldn't really be left unattended there anyways. More of extra comfort for them to get some outside while I am grinding away at the PC

Good note though about setting it up and taking it down. Would suck to have to worry about it all the time with strong storms.

I was originally considering cutting out a section in the dinette slide with a ramp. But I think on the door could possibly work and might be best.

I wouldn't cut a hole in my door the size of a doggie door for nothing. They are flimsy, thin and problematic when they are intact. Removing that big a portion of the door then continuing to subject it to the torsional twists of opening, closing and slamming is just going to manifest itself in an endless string of problems.

That's understandable. It wouldn't be for everyone. Anyways, aside from all the doggie doors ect ect and everything related to that. Are there any suggestions or good places to buy screen rooms?

I'm not sure what kind of screened room you would want. I've seen different kinds that attach to the awning, free standing etc. The issue you will have with unrestrained pets is keeping them from going under the trailer if you use something that attaches to the trailer itself. I carry 2 Clam enclosures which are free standing; a 12' one and a 6' for protection from noseeums and rain when cooking. Super easy to use but ingress/egress might present a problem.

I am just looking for an enclosed screen room and the best spot to find them/purchase them. Nevermind pets entirely.

Seems like a dog trying to manuever a doggie door without a flat, solid landing going in or going out would be a safety issue for your pet. Just say'n
