Staying attached
Ok I know I’ve seen threads on this topic before but to save time searching I’m just going to ask your indulgence in providing me with a quick answer. I am planning a quick over night stop at a campground tomorrow and would like to stay hooked up to my truck. I have a HC 373RD and would like to put the slides out. Can I still use the auto level or do I need to manually extend the jacks. Any advice or procedures would be appreciated so I don’t wreck anything. Thanks I’m advance.

I would NOT use autolevel while hitched.
I think it will put too much upward strain on the hitch.
I have left mine hitched overnight if the site is level, just put down your landing gear to stabilize it a bit. Keep an eye on your hitch. I know my RV settles pretty good on the TV so I can go up a few inches.
If the site is NOT level, I un-hitch and autolevel.

I have heard some folks advocate for totally disconnecting and some for just dropping the front jacks. As for us if we are only staying a few hours I don't do anything (no jacks at all-although we do have to put the kitchen slide out to get to bedroom and bathroom). We are usually dog tired and ready to sleep anyway. We simply tolerate the little bit of bounce and in the morning all we have to do is unplug and go. Same thing if we stay at a truck stop or something like that. But then its not something we did on a regular basis.

Have you watched the Auto Level process? You definitely would NOT want to do that attached. I got concerned the first time I watched it do it’s thing by how low it went and how hi before it got all the readings. I would think you could manually use the jacks to somewhat level the rig old school and stabilize it for the night.

I have done this before and I just put the slides out and leave the truck hooked up I don't even use the rear stabilizers. If it's not level side to side I have the Anderson levelers. You should chalk the wheels though.

We do it freqently. Still hooked up, manually level if necessary, put slides out and enjoy the night.

Thank you all for your input. I feel more comfortable now staying hooked up for the night.

NEVER DO AUTO when connected.
I don't disconnect at walmart I might put the front legs down for some support. MAKE SURE YOU REMEMBER THEY ARE DOWN WHEN YOU LEAVE.....

Another thing i do is if I am going to leave in the morning and it's going to rain. I put the slides in so I don't have to put wet slides in and let them drip inside.

Sometimes we put the front jacks down, open whatever slides we need, no issues.
