Shower base
Well it finally happened. The flimsy abs thermoformed shower base cracked. I’m not sure what Reggie was thinking when he cut the legs for the base at the factory but good god measuring must be tough. One side was floating about 1/8 inch the other was to high. In the whole of a 34” neo angle there was 5 legs supporting a piece of 1/2 plywood.
Well time for a repair. I decided to order an LCI 9.5” tall pan from amazon. Total cost 160 and change. Amazon ships it next day air ups for some reason causing it to arrive 4 days early.
Rip out the old pan after taking out the walls and fixtures and door. Here is a tear out photo. The pan goes on tomorrow. I suspect I will need to trim the surround a bit but otherwise should be straightforward.

The picture is the spot where the neo angle shower that was woefully supported is supposed to be. The base cracked right next to the drain and was leaking. The cause for the crack? No support under the base. Reggie (my fictional keystone employee) had a hard time measuring the support base legs as none of them We’re on the floor at the same time. It felt very springy when you stood on the base instead of solid. I tried adding support legs but the way the drain goes it’s almost impossible to add meaningful supports. So once it cracked I ripped everything out ordered a new base from amazon which the for some reason shipped next day air. Huge box 34x34x12 could not be cheap to ship next day air. In the process of putting it back together again right now.

I have been looking for years for a more residential corner shower to replace ours. Have not came across anything reasonably priced yet.

Nice job. Perhaps you should apply for Reggie’s position.

I guess "Reggie" was expecting some serious expansion with the drain line and centering the shower fixture was not in his job description. LOL...SMH

Always fun to see how different models/years are "designed" when it comes to the throne room. Already had to replace the neo angle shower base on our 3800 model couple of years ago. On ours, if you are sitting on the throne and the wife walks by the bathroom wall in the bedroom...you can feel the toilet move since there are holes in the floor for the toilet, one for heat outlet beside the toilet, and the heat outlet in the bedroom ALL within less than three feet from each other. And of course, across from the toilet is the hole in the floor for the shower drain and close by that is the holes for sink drain and water lines. One holely floor.

301242 is the pan in parchment
306302 is the wall surround.
I was able to reuse my wall surround it was held on by some double sided foam tape and some plastic rivets.

Thanks I really appreciate the info. My unit has all of the plumbing under so I don't need a raised base. Do you know if they make a base that sits flat on the floor with like a 4-inch curb like a residential base would be. ?
