Kyocera KR2 Mobile Router

I have found a brand new Kyocera KR2 Mobile Router TXRTR10012, for the sale price of $172.99. It will accept my PC5750 air card. Since I dont know much about routers, can anyone tell me if I would need anything else to use this router to connect two laptops to the internet since both have built in wireless? thanks
Tom

Tom I think thats what EVDOalex recommended for you. You might e-mail him and make sure. We payed $214.00 from the 3gStore (sale price) for our wire USB router and it should be here (Florida) Thur or Friday. Good Luck... GBY..

Tom, you don't need anything else. The air card in the router gives you access to the internet. The router gives you WiFi connections for your laptops. Depending on your air card receiption, you might need an outside antenna and/or an amplifier.

I have a Wilson outside antenna that we use with the first Air card we had in 2005. I haven't installed it yet but will today if I have time, but if it don't get done today I might get to it tomorrow. GBY...

I, too, have the Wilson Antenna AND the 3 watt amp that I got from 3G store. We have been happy with this setup so far. I have a Phoebus Router that I plug the air card into and hook to our desktop with an ethernet cable and then wifi off the router with my laptop. Got this from 3GStore also. Tech support is stupendous....These guys really know what they are doing, thank God, for I don't.......

I just hope EVDO's support isn't like the shipping! LOL< my KR2 I ordered is lost because the guy that took the order put in the wrong zip, spelled the complete address wrong, even spelled the billing address wrong, this has gone on for 5 days now, fedx doesnt know where its at is what they told me this morning, EVDO don't know where its at either. I bought this router from EVDO because some moc's members recommended EVDO, even at a greater price (as much as $60.00 higher) I did track the package to Kingsport tn, but even the fedx couldnt find it they said, not as of 11:00 this am,. soooo a KR2 is "lost on CYBER space"!! lol!

tom41 don't feel bad, we ordered ours from the 3gStore its a cradle point 1000 which was recomeded by EVDOalex. We then called the tech support at the 3gStore number. They tried several times to get it to work. They took over the computer and still couldn't get it loaded. They then realized our AT&T USB 885 has a new upgrade which they couldn't get it uploaded? We then tried the other Laptop which we got in 2000. The other Laptop is a year old, but has the Vista system, which we don't really like. Well they told us to return the cradle point and they would load the new upgrade. To say the least we are disappointed. Our question was why send a router out without the upgraded. We also talk to the 3gStore personel before ordering the router and told them exactly what AT&T system we had? Oh well we hope we get this worked out, we will see. Hope you find your KR2, good luck. GBY......

Delaine, Lindy, I hope you get yours working, I can understand. Maybe mine will be here in a day or two. Of course I have e-mailed with Alex and he has always replied back at once, so its certainly not his fault. I know he has done all he can I feel. But I can assure you there are other "good" companies out there with a much better price on this router and I would think there support would also be good or they wouldn't be in business as long as they have. an example here's an e-mail from a very reliable company (had a friend order a router and satisfied)
Hello Tom,
Thanks for your e-mail. The KR2 will allow you to share your aircard with two separate computers. Right now the KR2 is on sale for $189.95, normally $209.95.
I paid $249.99 at 3G store (if I ever receive it) lol

Tom, I used the KR1 with my 5750 for a couple years. Only problem I had - and this was the KR1 - was frequent drops and restarts. But worked well for a long time for us.

thankfully, the tracking info this morning says the package is "out for delivery"

... crossing my fingers and hoping that translates into an actual delivery today.

thanks for your patience.

Tom, I would assume they addressed that problem with the KR2. I would still use my 5750/KR1 setup if the need ever arose vs buying a new KR2. Currently we are sitting for months at a time and we contact the local cable companies for $30/mo hi speed internet service and use a cheap router for our two laptops that way right now.

We plan a trip out west and this would necessitate the use of the KR1. We have the 5750 aircard w/o a contract so we can turn it on/off for whatever months we want.

Great to hear, its wonderful when things work out. Our cradle point 1000 should be at the 3gStore today, and was told it takes about 30 seconds to do the upgrade and they will put it back in the mail to us. GBY...
