Would you not know it...The furnace quit working last night. The good news is that it quit BEFORE we left instead of later. We have a service contract on it and the furnace guy is enroute as we speak. I already know from the symptoms that it is the igniter that is bad.Seems they go every 2 years or so...Did I mention that there is white stuff on my shinny new truck and it is below freezing..Next year we leave earlier.

Rich, Plan is approved as requested, any and all deviations enroute are approved, return to original destination is not approved until head is cleared and cold wet stuff is no longer laying around. Cleared for immediate takeoff, or hold short and advise. By the way Have a great trip!!!!!!!!!

Have you got the furnace fixed yet?
I have to agree..."The good news is that it quit BEFORE we left instead of later".
Have a safe trip and keep us posted.

The furnace is Ok.The problem was the "flame sensor" a thermistor that was malfunctioning. Our furnace guy came out and gave the entire furnace a going over.. We are good to go right now but will stick to our established schedule and launch Monday morning.

Actually, you could probably get away with your electric fireplace where we are at. 4 nights last winter below 40. 1 in Jan, 2 in Feb, 1 in Mar(first week). One night in Feb it did reach 33 briefly...
There are some areas north of us that do get freezing weather - Ocala and areas north receive some freezing weather, but it was nice here 5 miles straight south of Disney's Animal Kingdom. Spent alot of time last Jan/Feb at the pool...
PS: On further checking, we had a total of seven days last winter where it did not make it over 60 - and that was when temps were in the upper 50s. I'll be honest - I still would like a workable furnace on those days...

I was not clear.. The furnace that malfunctioned was in the stick house..The camper furnace is running as we speak as it is 29 degrees here. 40 Degrees is nothing when it gets to 40 Degrees here in Northern Ohio in the winter we are out in the driveway washing our cars. We are F-20 hours and counting... The vehicle is in launch position , all comm and video systems nominal, GPS course plotted and laid in. We will clear the stick house tonight and stay in the camper. There is some weather moving in from the west across our course but with a launch window of 7/8 Am Monday Morning we will be clear.

Chattanoooooga North KOA today..Easy day..no rain..Helen did all the driving. The truck and camper are a disaster area..Mud everywhere. They may not let us into Florida. This place is full of Ohio, Mich. NY and Ontario plates all heading for Florida. High dollar MH next to us pulled in with a broken rear spring..They will be here for awhile. 60 degrees here..things are looking up. One propane tank ran dry.. The KOA owner came to the camper, picked it up, filled it and brought it back..30 gallon tank....$18.97 total...how is that for service. Cost for the site..50amp, pull through full hooks, 77 cable channels..$28.03.

So glad your trip has been good so far. Good to hear that the weather is improving, too. What is your final destination for this trip?

Sandy..Davenport ,Fla..our next door neighbors will be the disprik's. Cordele ,Ga to day...66 Degrees...outside the camper. Had a couple of hair raisers. In KY I-75 in heavy rain a idiot doing 80mpg or so came loose from the road and began to spin out of control in front of us. I remembered the words of my brother-in-law and race car driver who said when there is a spin out in front of you..steer straight and when you get to where he was..he won't be there any more.. I did that..it worked. Today on the Atlanta bypass. We were in the right lane of three lanes. I do not like to be in that lane because of bone heads entering and leaving the interstate but could not get over. Sure enough that lane stopped. In the first mico second I though "we are going to run over the little black car in front of us" and had no choice but to do a drop your socks stop..in the second micro second I wondered which way the 3400 was going to jack knife .. To the right berm I hoped and not into the left lane of traffic.. To my surprise..the truck and 3400 stayed absolutly stright and we stopped with out running over anything. My complements to Ford and the huge brakes on the dually and the Brake controller that fools the camper into thinking it has ABC brakes..it works.
And to T&C rv for the brake replacement using better quality brakes after the seals broke greasing my brakes.. I had 3400 brakes.
I have way more confidence in the stopping ability of this rig under the worst of circumstances. Other than that ..nice trip..we are 87.00 under budget due to lower than budgeted diesl prices.

Judy, we should probably have lunch sometime during that week, depending on your family schedule. Rich and Helen will be here on the 3rd. You have my number.
Rich, if ever there was a place on earth to test the maneuvering abilities of a tow vehicle and 5th wheel, that would be I-75 in between 30 miles north and 30 miles south of the city of Atlanta. Cheryl and I have had stuff happen to us in that "testing area" - with and without the Montana - that could fill a book. Glad you made it through the "gauntlet".
