I think everyone should have an old army Duce and a half to pull their camper. Put two lazy boys in that baby she would be super comfortable. You would never get stuck and could pull your camper anywhere except past a gas pump.
What ya think?

I love the idea. Those things were great. However, they can get stuck. In 1980 I was a volunteer fireman in our community. One very windy, hot and dry day, two power lines slapped together dropping sparks in a area that had tall dry grass and many tall pine trees. Once the fire started, it did not take long for the flames to reach the top of the pine trees and it took off racing across the pine canopy. A "untrained" policeman got in the deuce and a half grass truck and drove the truck into the green (meaning un-burned) area ahead of the fire and buried the front axle. Shortly after that, the fire over took the truck and it was a total loss. I've never seen head lights droop like a tear drop before.

Personally I just don’t see the down side to a 4X4 truck.

Except they are heavier, cost more and use more gas.
I have a 4X4 to but I can see advantages and disadvantages to both.

Yes a 4X4 cost more but some of that comes back when it is sold or traded. Mileage yes 1 mile less per gallon not all that bad. But for the pice of mind I for one would not be without the 4X4.
Heck before I had the 5er I had a 26 foot boat and found I needed the 4X4 Chevy surburan to pull it up the boat ramps. Not all but once the ramp got wet that’s when the 4X4 came in handy.
Watched far to many people with 2 wheel drive sit spinning there wheels.

Used to be in the 4x2 camp. Too hard to find one. so I broke down and went with 4x4. Have used 4x4 once, but only because I have it. Maybe someday.....

when you camp directly on a wet sandy beach you need 4x4.
I got stuck shortly before shooting this pic. I got unstuck by hitching to the trailer at 90° pointing down the beach toward the water. It pulled right out. When I was in-line with the trailer the front and rear end just dug in. It doesn't help that the 3790 weighs in nearly at 17k and makes an excellent anchor. This happened again two weeks later in the same area. My son just pulled me forward with his truck so I didn't have to mess with unhitching twice. Good times!
The photo is deceiving, but the door side tires are off the ground a couple inches and the ODS tires are in the ground 4 inches.

In the northwest you don't see 2-wheel drives at all. Too many mountain passes and beaches to get stuck on. Resale on 2-wheel drives not good. I've only owned one full sized 2-wheel drive in my life. Every other truck has been 4x4.

A 2wd truck is useless. I owned one 20 years ago and will never own one again.

I owned 2WD trucks for years and I never found them useless in fact I liked them. Did every thing I needed them to do, haul 50 bales of hay, fire wood and pull my camper anywhere I wonted to go.

Jetskier - I'm amazed you can pull something that heavy in the sand at all.
Do you air down the trailer tires as well? Seems they would sink straight into the abyss with 100lbs of pressure and skinny profile.

Where did you get the snow blower for the front of your tractor?

It is an MK Martin Meteor, 3 point PTO, 68", mounted on the rear. Kind of a pain in the neck if you know what I mean. You get really good at driving in reverse.
You can get blowers for the front if you have hydraulics up front; I don't.

Thanks I thought it was on the front. My neck can’t take all that backing up.
