We went with Motow with an electric lift
https://motowus.com/products/product...cycle-carrier/

We chose to install a hitch on the front of the truck after seeing our bikes bounce on the back of the RV. It also allows us to drive the bikes to trails without trying to load them in the bed of the truck, or transferring the hitch from the trailer to the truck

We have tried many Thule bike racks finally got a Kuat…for our electric bikes. Hands down the BEST out there. We had to get a twelve inch extension to our hitch. Then had to have that welded on. This gave us enough room on the back of our Montana and support for two 65 pound e-bikes.

Thumbs up Electric Bike Rack

Just wanted to let everyone know that we had a problem with our bike rack and it managed to fall off the RV with the bikes attached. Not sure what happened, but the end result was the insurance co. covered the bikes no problem, but they would only cover the bike rack if it was an RV bike rack for EBikes. We had to prove to the insurance that this was the case by sending them a copy of our invoice for the bike rack and a letter from the bike shop explaining that the bike rack was RV approved and for EBikes. We have a Swagman Ebike RV rack so they covered everything. Enjoy your travels.

I have the swagman E rated, but it’s not the RV rated. I would like to run this on the back of my fifth wheel. Has anyone ever used this particular model?

Is that Swagman E-Spec rack https://www.swagman.net/products/espec-rv-approved and https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Bike-...man/S94FR.html? I have used on the back of my fifth wheel trailer, motorhome, toad behind my motorhome, truck and car.

Yes, that’s the same rack. However, they have another model that’s a rated and RV rated.

The E-Spec is reportedly rv-rated per Swagman and E-Trailer. I have used it on my fifth wheel trailer, motorhome, toad behind motorhome, truck and car. Please advise what is the new rv rated e-bike rack. Thanks.

I just received my Swagman E-Spec rack to replace my Hollywood rack. When searching for a rack you have to look at all the fine print specifications. Some say e bike rated for 70 lbs each but on a fifth wheel only 60 lbs.

For example, on etrailer the specs on the Yakima Y36FR says 2 bikes, 5th wheel rated, 2" hitch, tilt, bike rated, 66 lbs per bike. All good so far, then you read if on a 5th wheel the weight rating goes down to 40 lbs per bike, and the tilt feature must be locked out. Also the tire size is only 3.25"

Some are frame mount and some are wheel clamp and some have grabbers for the frame. My bikes have fenders and racks so the wheel mount versions are out. Frame mount for me but I have to use the extra bars that go from the seat post to the handle bar stem. Also make sure you get the right wheel size i.e. 3" or 4" tire. Also make sure your wheels fit i.e. 20" and up.

If you have the bikes you can find the right rack to fit. There are too many variables if you buy the rack first without knowing your bikes details.
Also the 2" mount will hold more and be higher rated than the 1.25" mount. Hitch extensions for the mount, even 2" size will reduce the rating of the hitch and might void the warranty.

Thank you for the information. Is your rack RV rated?

Yes, the Swagman e-Spec is rated for 5th wheel trailers and for 70# ebikes. Also for fat tires that fit into the tire carriers. The tilt down feature is locked out when on 5th wheel trailers by using the included bolt instead of the pin.

The Swagman e-Spec is 5th wheel rated. You must use the bolt rather than the pin for the tilt function.

I use the bolt on the Montana and the pin when used on the car or truck.

Hollywood RV Rider

We have the Hollywood RV Rider, and is warrantied for two 80lb (each) e-bikes on a fifth-wheel. It is a rock-solid carrier for our two Aventon Aventure 2's.

That Hollywood rack is real nice and really strong. I could not use the frame grabbers on my ebikes so I had to opt for the extra cross bars. Hollywood says not to use the extra cross bars with their rack.

Here's a snip directly from the Swagman site. The one shown is the one we have - part number 66689. Approved for 5th wheels using the bolt and for bikes at 70lbs each. DW's RadPower bike has 4 inch tires and fits fine.

I replaced the 2 inch tube with a 24 inch one (and included a nut) bc the upright would slightly scrape the rear cap.
