The part arrived. It was about a 20 minute job. Theoretically it was a simple job. In reality, it was a stand-on-your-head job with the help of Dianna holding a mirror. Turn off the water and drain the water valve (push the pedal down). To replace the spring assembly, you remove the two 5/16" hex bolts. The water valve comes out easily (do
not disconnect the water lines) and the spring assembly is behind it.
Pull the spring assembly out and put the new one in. The spring fits over the square shaft and the spring assembly only fits one way. Make sure to fit the nub into the notch on the pedal, align the holes, insert the bolts and tighten. Test your work and you are done.
It didn't work, so I tightened the bolts more, taking the wiggle out of the pedal. Then it was stiff. I sprayed some cooking oil on the ball and worked the pedal a couple of times and it was like new.
