A mess under Hydro pump

I was in the front hatch the other day and found some rags I had in there on the floor, saturated with oil. Reservoir level doesn't look like it changed, but under the pump it looks like about an eighth inch of oil. It must be coming from the reservoir but where and how do I fix it? Any ideas?

Have you recently filled it? If so perhaps it is just overflow. My first guess would be a connection has worked loose. Second would be that the tank has developed a small crack. Could be a hose has cracked too. Let us know what you find. Dennis

First thing I'd do is check all fittings for tightness.

Check the level, clean everything real good, run the slides in-out and have someone look at it to see what it does. Then you will know where it is coming from. ...and what to fix! Good luck, and let us know.

The weak link is usually the plastic reservoir itself; as indicated previously, check it carefully. A hairline crack is all it takes.

You might contact Lippert. I had the same problem on my 2955 and they sent me a new pump. I had to install it myself, but it wasn't difficult.

I don't know if your pump is still under warranty, but it's worth a shot. On mine, as I recall, it was a crack where the reservior connected to the pump. If you replace it yourself, you will read a lot of mumbo jumbo about hydraulic oil. Lippert told me that any automatic transmission fluid would work, so be guided accordingly.

Good luck!

If it comes to replacing the pump on your own dime ... consider this website. No I don't get anything for posting this, just to show anyone that you need not spend $800 - $1000 for a slide pump from your "stealer".

I haven't filled the tank and the strange thing is that it doesn't look low. It looks the same as it always has. The TT is a 2007 and way out of warrenty. From what has been said, I take it you can't remove the reservior from the pump and just replace teh reservior? You would think you could without buying the whole pump.

Our 04 had the "O" ring that seals the tank to the pump start leaking. I ended up cleaning things and using RED RTV to seal things up. I couldn't find any parts for mind at that time. Since that time I found the "O' ring but never replaced it.
