Adding Third AC

Thinking about adding 3rd AC for geo areas the get hot (98+).

Thoughts/comments:

A - heat pump or not?

B - Thermostat ?

C - Set up as a remote power connection?

D - Brand?

There are a number of threads on this if you look in the search. I added a Dometic, a heat pump would have been too tall for where mine went. I got a non ducted one since the rig already is at minimum on supply vents. I unwired the control that only allows two to run at a time and put a breaker on the basement wall for a new 20amp run and took the supply out the wall of the rig near the convienence center and mounted a 30amp plug there. I either use a 30amp cord to my 30amp outlet on the box or, when we have visitors using the 30amp I run an extension cord to another non-GFI outlet I have in another location. If your rig was preped for a third AC the wiring is all there. The thermostat wire is behind the control for the fan when you remove it. Finding the controler that only allows two to run at a time is more of a challenge. Mine was in a return air vent next to the door.

I for one do not understand the need for a 3rd a/c let alone a 2nd. Our unit has 2, the normal ducted 15k unit and a 13.5 k bedroom unducted unit. With that being said, we have used both units to cool it down quickly upon arrival. But after that the one main a/c does just fine. We spent 2+ weeks in the Myrtle beach area this summer with temps in the upper 90s and a heat index around 105-110. The 15k unit cooled it down just fine. I suspect some are trying to cool there unit down to meat locker temps ?
