Yes, the thought is scary, but it's amazing the way things develop. When I started packing up the house, it seemed that it would take forever, but at some point a sense of freedom came into it, and that has continnued the more we travel. If you don't like the place you're at, all you have to do is hook up and move. If you like where you are, stay. We have met lots of incredible people along the way, some we will continue to keep in touch with. We have seen some incredible country (at the momment green deserts!) During the summer we will spend time with our families, during the winter try and find warm temperatures. Fulltiming is what you make it to be!

We are in the process of selling our house and becoming full-timers. We will place our trailer in a local RV park and continue working for another year or two before going on the road. We are putting most everything in storage just in case we change our minds. However, it does not appear that will happen. We love having the chance to live the RV life style. We plan to retire when our boss retires in 1 or 3 years and start traveling. We want to be workampers for a few years as well as continue our mission work in Central and South America where we work in short term missions doing eyecare. We are both Opticians and want to work part-time on the road wherever we happen to be. We have not purchased our Montana 3295 yet and am considering also possibly an Everest. I would appreciate any feedback on the quality issues between the two.

Doug and Anita, congratulations on the start of a wonderful adventure. If you check under 'general' discussions on this forum you can peruse a recent discussion on the differences between the Everest and the Montanas. Some of the Everest owners on the forum have added their firsthand comments. Another way to check would be to put "Everest" in the search engine and pull up all entries on the Everest. Welcome to the forum. Judy

Doug,
Congratulations on your new adventure. We hope to join you soon. Ah well, at least we can read about it for the time being.

Just wanted to say good luck & safe travels.Think we're the only "used to be" full timers on the board.SRiegles post brought back the memories. He was 56,I was 49.We sold the house, moved next door to the property we kept, with a 3 car garage & covered rv port, with all hook ups.Lived there 6mos...made a nice transition. His retirement party was over at 10pm & we rolled out of driveway at 6am...heading for Fl. One DD lives there.
Then in Spring, we left Fl on a trip that lasted 18mos, before we were back in Ohio.A couple mos in Grand Teton mtns, time in Cour D Alene,Id across Wash & 3 mos on the Or/Wash coast.Down the coast of Calif,on to Az for 3 mos. Then Las Vegas,Death Valley.....all over N Mex & Texas. That was a trip where we did what we wanted...for as long as we wanted.
We've wintered in Fl,Az,Nv,Calif,Tx valley.Spending every winter in the same place/park didn't work for us...we wanted to see it all.Loved Boston, New Orleans.Fields of Tx bluebirds, cactus blooming.....roads all over Tx that are made for exploring.Have been to 3 countries. Towed 5th whs in Canada & 48 states.
It's a mind set...you decide to enjoy it.We loved the travel, got tired of campgrounds & then decided to make garage into a small house. Now we have the best of both worlds.A place we love & the 5th wh ready to go when we are.Sorry to be so long winded. I get started & don't know when to shut up.Pat
