bedroom tv

We want to take the tv out of the cabinet in the bedroom and replace it with a 32" flat screen. Has anyone done this and do you have pictures you can show? My husband wants to put a 32" in but I would like to see what it is going to look like with a tv on the outside of the cabinet. Thank you

I took ours out and replaced it with about a 20" flat screen. I cut down the large hinged shelf to about 4 inches to allow for a small "shelf" for the TV to rest on. I then used Velcro on the sides to hold the TV in place so it can be removed if wanted. The two inch gap above the TV is filled in with a 2" board painted black to match the TV.
Our TV is also a computer monitor. This was cheaper than buying a flat screen TV of the same size.
The most important thing about this is DW loves it!
This mod allows for a bunch of storage space behind the new flat screen.

I removed the 19 inch tube TV and replaced it with a 22 inch flatscreen. It's mounted behind the frame with a Mor-ryde TV bracket on a piece of wood. It mounts tight up against the back of the frame. I'll build a shelf underneath it to hold a DVD player and some DVD's

You are asking a lot of me but I'll give it a try. I'll get someone smarter than me (my wife) to help me.

I took and replaced the 26" LCD TV that came with the rig with a 32" LCD TV. I put the 26" LCD in the Bedroom.

26" in bedroom , , and the 32" in the Living room .

It doesn't look like there's enough room width-wise.

You would have to find a 32" TV with dimensions that come close to the swing door that the bedroom TV is mounted in. And that may be difficult. Good luck, and keep us informed on your project.

We have decided to get a 26" tv instead of the 32". We will be taking the 19" out of the cabinet and installing the 26".

As of this week we just replaced the tube type TV and replaced it with a 23 inch wide HDTV by Samsung from Costco.
Installed it outside of the cabinet door and used a backmount to the base of the swinging door, we installed strips of oak top and bottom to fill in the horizontal spaces. I am sure we are 50 lbs lighter with the flatscreen. Also adds lots of room behind the flatscreen. Ellis

Wendy, I just put a 26" LCD in our bedroom. I have to say that the screen is so large at the 26" size, that I would hestitate to put anything larger in there, even if it did fit.

My neck would be sore from having to move my head from side to side to watch the action. Like sitting in the front row of a movie theater...

What I did was unscrew the board that the tube TV was sitting on and put it on the back of the opening of the cabinet door - almost covering it. The curved surface left an area to fish the power cord and cable through to the TV. I bought some 50# picture hanging wire and screwed it into the two top mount holes on the back of the TV. Then pre-drilled and nailed a 50# rated picture hook (nail - not dry wall anchor) and then hung the TV like like a picture.

Works great - just have to find a way to keep the cabinet door from free swinging. Unsuccessful so far on that...

If you are really set on the 32 in be careful of the weight - not sure what those hinges are rated - if you planned on using that swinging door for a mount?
