Auto Level Losing Power

To start off I have a 2022 High Country with electric auto level system. The batteries are fully charged and I am on 50A shore power.

Last night when I was setting up after I hit the auto level button the system started to work like normal but then just stopped and the screen shutoff part way through. When I turned it back on I get an error message. I try to clear the error message but as I am trying to extend all the jacks 6” it keeps shutting off every 10 seconds or so. I can hear a clicking noise in the front storage area like something resetting but can’t tell from where.

After a dozen cycles of this I get them all extended 6” but then it turns off immediately after I try to retract. I decide to cycle the battery switch, the converter breaker and the 12v box and when I go back out I starts to function as normal again and retracts the jacks in one try. Then it also lets me lower the front landing gear to get it off my truck again. I hit auto level and everything seems to be working fine still but right at the end after it’s almost completed the leveling and starting to put down the middle stabilizers it loses power again and gives me an error.

For now it is level enough to use for a few days but wondering if anyone has an idea of what’s happening.

Thanks

I’ve never had that issue with mine but just a couple thoughts. Is there a relay in the front compartment that is faulty? I’m not sure which one it would be but maybe you could engage the system to do something and stick your head in the front compartment and listen to see if one of them clicks off. The other thing is look for where the fuse(s) are. They must be inline or on the main panel in the storage bay. You might check those as well.

Sorry I’m not better help. I’ve dealt with lots of errors but never just shutting off. Hopefully someone else can shed more light. You can also call Lippert directly. They are very helpful folks.

I have heard from one other person it may be the auto reset breaker they use on the 12v box…it seems to only be 30a and the leveling system can pull close
to 40A at times. Not sure why they would put a 30A breaker on this setup. I was advised to replace it with a 60A but I’m still doing a little research before I double the amps but I haven’t had time to look too much further into it yet

It would help if we knew the error message, Lippert has good customer support. Download the lippert now app or just call them.

Let us know the outcome.

The error message is just a result of the system losing power in the middle of an auto level sequence and I know how to clear it, the issue is why is it losing power while connected to shore power and full battery. I will try and call Lippert about it but after some more research it does look likely that it is my auto reset circuit breaker either failing or too low amp rating.

Whats the error message?
I'm in chat with Lippert right now

Their reply, I would suggest giving us a call at 574-537-8900

Pretty sure that just means it lost power while extending the left front jack…if you don’t mind see if they know anything about the auto reset breakers causing an issue like this

The "LF" error message indicates a problem at the left front jack, a ground or short, or perhaps a power issue like the battery stopping to send power

Google "Lippert LF error"

I appreciate the help. I am aware of what the error means. The system is losing power during operation. I am trying to figure out WHY it is losing power when I’m on shore power with a full battery.

I know a lot of people would try to do their leveling system and it would cut out and it was due to the factory using a 50 amp breaker. I had this problem and switched it out to 50 amp with an 80 amp one, which they recommend you do, and this fixed the problem.

DO NOT replace the breaker with an 80 amp one. That modification is only for the hydraulic systems. Your rig has the electric leveling system. You might need to check all the electrical connections, especially at the LF jack, which might be loose or corroded, which would cause a voltage problem to that jack.

It isn’t necessarily the LF jack, that just happens to be the last error. Sometimes it’s the RF sometimes the RR just depends which one is being extended when it loses power. From all the info I have gotten it does seem to be the breaker. The way it cuts power and the automatically restores in about the time it takes an auto resetting breaker to reset. The clicking sounds I’ve heard, etc.

I have ordered a new straight replacement 50A for now and we will see what happens. Multiple people have told me to replace with 80A including other electric leveling owners but the wire gauge seems pretty small for 80A so hopefully it’s just a faulty breaker and this will fix it.

Yes, it can be completely random and not at all helpful. Now mine’s having problems again and I’m blaming you for starting this conversation…

No, I haven’t had issues for a while, but now it gives me an out of stroke message…but it can’t be out of stroke. Anyway, not trying to pirate your thread…just commiserating.

Start out simple. Check all connections and make sure they are tight. High amp draw from loose connections will cause this.
The factory does not put a lot of torque on connections or any thing for that matter. Start there

Check the ground

Mine messed up and i had the Mobile rv guy come out. He said the card was bad. Ordered one. Come back and put it in and still didn't work right. After checking the wires, the ground wire pulled right out of the connector to the frame. The connector was never crimped. It's been working fine ever since. Makes me wonder if the card was ever bad. So, check that you have a solid ground.

If the clicking sound is up front check your batteries that is a sound that happens when there is a battery issue

I just experienced the exact same issue. Putting the error aside, I lost power and heard the breaker trip and reset. This occurred when both left side jacks were extending. I've checked the connections and they are tight. I'm going to upgrade to a better quality breaker however the 3.0 control module has 35 amp fuses for each jack. Lippert specs a 50 amp breaker but allows for 70 amps at the controller?

Any time I've heard a reliable source recommend changing to the 80A breaker it was with hydraulics, not electric jacks. Breakers & fuses blow for a reason, randomly changing their value is a great way to burn down an RV.

I was having the same intermittent problem and couldn't find the source. If you let it sit for a few minutes the breaker would reset and you'd get a useless error code. Checked all the wires, hooked to shore power, yadda yadda yadda.

As a separate project, we installed lithium batteries, controller, etc and disconnected all the old battery components. Low-and-behold, 2 years and about 20,000 miles without a power issue. So my problem was either a poor crimp or bad breaker.
