2005 Mountaineer bathroom vent replacement
The weather and a few hailstorms have ruined our bathroom vent.
Are they any tips that would help in the replacement process. It has been many years since I replaced one and the memory just is not there.
Thanks
Ray

If it is just the cover that is cracked/broken, it is simple.
You have to take down the cover in bathroom. I think 4 screws in corners. Remove the screw in the crank handle then.
Then on the roof slide the cover sideways.
You have to raise the cover after removing the screw inside.
This is from memory from about 4 years ago or so.

You'll need a pair of needle nose pliers on the roof. The cover attaching metal has a couple of tabs that hold it from sliding side to side, and you have to bend one out to slide the cover off. There are quite a few different styles of covers and how they attach, so make sure you buy the correct one.

Took the cover off this afternoon and heading to the rv shop in the morning. It was really quite easy thanks to all your input. I replaced a couple of them back in the late 70's on our Komfort trailer. Guess it's kind of like the bicycle thing.
Again thanks to all for all the help. It really made it a piece of cake.

Damage to those frail covers is why I put really good maxxair fan mate covers on both of our vents. Yeah, they are about 80 bucks each, but they are really thick polye with uv inhibitors. Still look like new after three plus years. John

My vent cover died twice. One time it was during a storm in the Denver area at the state campground in Aurora, I think it is. Oh, it is Cherry Creek - very nice park.
anyway bad storm, radio or tv saying tornado sighting at some street crossroads - we have no idea of where that was at??!!?? Anyway it starts hailing and we are about to head to a restroom about 50 feet away made from cement blocks. With big hail we were trying to figure out what to cover our heads with to keep from getting knocked out. Just then it stopped - but it had knocked a hole in the vent. I just covered it with gray duct tape until we got home.
Oh, the very small tornado was about 2- 3 miles away and had minor damage to one house, I think. Still - it was a bit worrisome.
