SUSPENSION REPLACEMENT

We have a 2008 3605 and haven,t had any significant problems with it since we bought it. However I was looking at my tire wear last Apr. after returning from Arizona and it looked like a trailer wheel alignment was needed. A local dealer directed me to a truck service business and off I went. Long story made short, there was far more wrong than just an alignment. The springs were flattened out, the wet bolt bushings were worn out, the Morryde rubber hangers were worn out and yes, an alignment would also have to be done. He showed me the wear and the bad springs from under the trailer in the pit so I
knew all this was not fiction. The bottom line was 1600.00 CDN. Now the trailer sits up about 1.5 inches taller and my tire wear(actually on 3 tires) should not continue. We,ll find out shortly when we head for Arizona again on the 30th of Dec.

Given that it is a 2008, I am not surprised that suspension needed a lot of work. Price doesn't sound bad for all that work. Best of all, no major problems while on the road. John

Wet bolts worn out? I thought those didn't come standard until about 2010. Our 2008 3400 didn't have them so we had to add them.

Hi

Our 2009 didn’t come with wet bolts either but we added them at about 20,000 miles and if the weather holds and I am up to it today I will be checking the wear of the bolts and bushings today.

No wet bolts on mine. When I upgraded to wet bolts, the industry standard plastic sleeve was deformed and virtually useless. I replaced mine about 6-7 years ago with Morryde wet bolts. Even those have failed to take grease after a few years--and I routinely add grease. Morryde admitted to me that yes the rear wet bolts do get clogged and have to be replaced. So--I have done that also. Still the upgrade is way better than the Industry Standard plastic (CHEAP) sleeve insert.

The trailer did not come with wet bolts. I added them about 2years ago. The service guy told me (also an rv'r with a beautiful full body paint Landmark 5th wheel with a matching International truck)that when the plastic bushings wore out the eye holes in the springs wore into an elongated hole and caused the new bushings to wear out prematurely. Thanks you engineers at MONTANA for your wonderful plastic bushings decision and purchase. They ought to pull your frickin' ticket to design anything in the future.

I agree with artfuldodger, Keystone sucks, at least on the Montana. We had a cheaper to buy Dutchmen and it was better quality.
