Relocating

Hi All We think we want to try a new area. We are in Az at 83,000 feet and the weather is great maybe 58 in the a.m. and high 70's in the evenings. Were could we go that is about the same. I know the high might be in the eighties but that should be alright just don't do well in the heat higher than mentioned. I know some of you will have suggestions and I really have not traveled up into Montana,Colorado,Dokota's. So let me know where is a cooler area in the summer. Thanks

I'm hoping you mean 8,300 feet. 83,000 feet would get you above much of the bad weather, but I've never gotten our Monty to be able to fly. Northern New Mexico is fun and there are a number of places, but this year you need to make sure you're not headed for a fire area.

We summer in Colorado. Found a nice spot at Vallecito RV Resort near Durango. It's 7500' near a lake. Lots to do.

Randye,

You did not say what type of campground you are looking for, or for how long. There is plenty of national forest land for boondocking just north of where we are volunteering, at Steamboat Lake State Park. There are 250 campsites at Steamboat and Pearl Lake, with electricity only. I think that Colorado state parks are over-priced at $25 and 27. There are commercial campgrounds in Steamboat Springs and the other towns in the area. I do not know the price.
But, the weather is what you want, upper 40's nights and 70's daytime.

Right now Alaska is wonderful. Mid-fifties at night to upper 60s during the day.

Bueno Vista Colorado is at around 8200 feet elev. Warm in daytime and cool in evenings. Many ghost towns in area for exploring (some only accessible via 4x4 trucks probably). Also, serveral mountains over 14000 ft and a very nice trail along the river thru town. Not far from Leadville - touristy historic town. Nice day trip to Aspen.
On the way north, stop in Alamosa and see the Great Sand Dunes Nat. Park (it has a campground for smaller trailers only I think).
Buena Vista also has a very good Pizza place.
Forgot - In S. Colo. and N New Mexico is a railroad steam train from Antonito to Chama, NM. Fun trip.

Thanks for the replies, yes I meant 8,300 ft. I only have good internet at five to five thirty a.m. I am looking for the next job fit for the DW and I. So its not as easy as just going somewhere we want. I would like to stay away from the heat of the low lands. Thanks again. Happy travels all.

I will "second" the suggestion about Buena Vista,Colorado. We usually stay at the Arrowhead Point RV park north of town http://www.arrowheadpointresort.com/. We have also stayed at the KOA out at Johnson Village. But there are many nice parks in the area. It's one of our favorite places.
