Oxygenics Showerhead

At the recommendations and suggestions of the MOC members, I picked up an Oxygenics shower head at PPL the other day. It's installed, and you are all correct. What an improvement.

Now for the QUESTION:
The present hanger for the old shower head does not fit the Oxygenics.

Are there any suggestions for correcting this slight discrepancy?

Thanks.

I've been to 2 CWs recently and have seen no shower heads that actually say "Oxygenics", but rather "Marine/RV" shower head. Does whatever everyone's so happy with actually say "Oxygenics"? Is that a brand name?"

OK guys now you've gone & done it, I'm adding another thing to my list of must haves for our new adventure of full timing. The list is getting long & Dick is getting worried.

Seriously though, thanx for posting about such a great product.

Hey Wayne!

Bernie and I ran to Home Depot and bought an off the rack shower holder. Nothing fancy and it works like a charm. I didn't go with the one for the Oxygenics, didn't think I'd need to till I decided to move my shower head!

VanMan,
The package actually said "Oxygenics." This is the one I picked up

CW is 100 miles away. PPL is 40. I did not see a holder at PPL.
I tried Lowe's, but the only holder they had was to small.
Guess I could mke one out of PVC if I can get the dangle of the angle set.
Hmmm! Couple of 45 angles and a slotted T connector should do. I'm trying to picture it.

Patty, Blame it on Waynem. Now I got to get one also. I can pass on some of the other stuff. But, a good shower is a must.

Wayne, get some of that magic puddy advertised on tv and just stick the shower head to the back of the shower stall. No one will notice if you keep the shower door closed. JB

Thanks Wayne - I guess they were just sold out from the sale. I'll keep an eye out.

Vanman, you can order online from CW. We still use the original plastic holder. Not the best, but works OK for now.

Wayne, I just used the plastic holder that is already there. Ran the new hose up thru there and it still wedges in the hole for traveling. When we use it, we just let it dangle while soaping up.
By the way, did you get the shut off valve that actually stops the flow of water. The one we purchased at the big RV Rally in Oregon last summer did not have a way to completely shut off the water flow. It slowed the flow, but that wasn't acceptable when you are boon docking. So at the show, there was a vendor that had all kinds of valves and I got one that was chrome plated and installed it. Cost about a dollar and a quarter.
These things are very nice to use and seems like there is more water pressure while using the same water flow.

The one I picked up does not shut off all the way. As I understand it, that is a safety feature. Typically if you shut of a shower head, the hot water builds up because of the cold water return and you can scald yourself when starting the flow again. That is why the Oxygenics only shuts off to a trickle. I may pick up a shut off valve if I can find one.

The diameter of the head does not fit in the original holder, the "nut" goes in a little ways, but the rest will not so it is precariously positioned. If it hsould slip, it would hurt you from the weight. The shower head is not light. I'll try Home Depot today, or Ma & Pa's Hardware here in town.

JB,
I just looked at that part number on Camping World and I'm thinking that the opening is pretty small for the Body Spa shower head. Can you tell me if the head fits in the golder, or just the supply line to the head?

Thanks.

I have nevver had the 'scalding' in the rv, rather I always get a 'cold rush' when turning the shutoff valve back on.

Same here with the cold as Illapah. The original nozzle had a shut off on the head and this would be no different.

Most MOCers do not know that Wayne and I worked together for a year on Okinawa. I really hate to say this, but he was RIGHT. I know other MOCers speak the truth though.
Exactly what Wayne and you all have said, we pick up ours at Camping World and installed it. Worked great. Thanks to all those that recommended them.
Cheers,

I installed our Oxygenics the other day. I had purchased the optional hanger. As I was admiring our install and that the normal Montana shower hanger would be a bit less than adequate for the purpose I took a look at the original shower hose. Aha! Replaced the metalic hose that came with the Oxygenics with original plastic hose and the fit is just fine. I do think that the shower head should travel in the tub/shower floor to keep it from falling down and possibly damage to something.

Illapah,
That is where we stow it when we are traveling - on the floor. I just did not think of using the old hose with the new head. Might just give that a try in the morning, or when we stop on Sunday.

I also got the cold rush with the other shower head. Oxygenics states in their install paperwork that the shower head is designed to drip when shut off to prevent scalding. I just repeated what they printed.

John, Thanks for the kind words but I was wrong once. Well! Actually I was just
mistaken!

Not to be off the subject but Wayne and John-- when were you in Okinawa? I wasn't in the MC but the Air Force and was stationed at Kadena from '70-71. We had quite a few Marines in our The Reef Rovers (a dive club on base) and just may have known you and didn't recognize the names. LOL
Wayne and ther rest of you have now got my interest aroused and I'm going to have to go out and get a new shower head just to be in the "IN CROWD"! LOL
