Height between bedrail and coach

I am embarrassed to admit this, but some one and I cannot remember who, asked me a few days ago how much room I had between my bed rails and coach? I just went out and measured and the answer is 8.5 inches. I also have four hole adjustments for height on my king pin, my pin is set in the bottom two holes. Coach rides level.

Again, I am sorry for not remembering who I was supposed to send this reply to.

Wow! That is a lot of clearance. We have 6" and that's the best we can do and it seems to be sufficient.

We have 7 or 7 1/2 (can't remember which). Next time we're hitched I'll doublecheck that.

6 inches of bedrail clearance is the minimum you want, I like 8 better and that is what I have.
You will probably be fine with 6 but be wary of uneven ground.

There is always a compromise between aft ground clearance and bed clearance. We learned that the dealer's choice setup was bad with the first parking lot where the steps on the rear entry 2955RL dragged and bent. reset the hitch down a notch and has been fine since. At the gate, we are at 5 inches but closer to 6 near the pin. The trailer rides slightly high at the nose to get this clearnace to the Dodge.
